This week, members of New Kent Professional Firefighters spent time training on our new AutoPulse NXT mechanical CPR devices. These devices have now been placed on all front-line ambulances and will help our crews deliver high-quality, consistent chest compressions during cardiac arrest emergencies.

The AutoPulse NXT allows providers to focus on other critical life-saving interventions while ensuring continuous CPR, even during patient movement and transport. This technology is another step forward in our commitment to providing the highest level of prehospital care to the citizens and visitors of New Kent County.

We are proud to continue investing in advanced equipment, ongoing training, and evidence-based practices that improve patient outcomes and better serve our community.

A big thank you to all of our personnel who participated in the training and worked to ensure a smooth implementation of this new life-saving equipment.

Yesterday, crews from Station 502 had a great time out in the community participating in a public event and connecting with residents of all ages!

Visitors had the opportunity to tour our fire engine and ambulance, learn important fire and life safety information, and watch demonstrations from our firefighters. Events like these are a great way to educate the public, build relationships, and inspire the next generation of first responders.

A special shout-out goes to Firefighter Hannah and Firefighter Elbourn for representing New Kent Professional Firefighters and doing an outstanding job engaging with the community throughout the event.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit us. We always enjoy the opportunity to serve and connect with our community both on and off emergency calls!

At approximately 3:20 AM this morning, crews from Stations 501, 503, and 505 were dispatched to a commercial vehicle accident with entrapment on Interstate 64 West near mile marker 217.

Upon arrival, firefighters and EMS personnel encountered a complex incident that required an extended rescue operation. Crews worked to stabilize the scene, mitigate hazards, and assist those involved while ensuring the safety of responders and the traveling public.

Due to the nature of the incident, westbound Interstate 64 was closed for an extended period of time while emergency personnel operated on scene. The roadway has since reopened and traffic is flowing normally.

We appreciate the cooperation and patience of motorists during the closure and would like to thank all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts throughout the incident.

Yesterday, New Kent Fire Rescue crews responded to a structure fire in Lanexa where they were met with several challenging conditions on scene. Firefighters worked through wind-driven fire conditions, fire extension into nearby brush, and the challenges of operating in a rural area with limited water supply.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of training, teamwork, and strong mutual aid partnerships. We want to recognize all crews involved for their hard work and dedication in bringing this incident under control safely and effectively.

We also want to echo appreciation for the neighboring jurisdictions that assisted, as well as Henrico County Division of Fire for providing station coverage while crews remained committed on scene. Your support and partnership are invaluable.

Strong work by everyone involved.
