The sky doing its thing. The cows doing theirs.

Solid advice.

Nothing hurries a cow to fresh grass. Open the gate, step back, and let them do the rest.

Grass ahead. That’s enough of a plan.Everybody seems to know where they’re going.

A little piece of Blackwater history.

This was part of the original Blackwater sign that Anna’s mom, Jeannie, painted by hand years ago.

We held onto it, and it now hangs in my woodshop above an old cow skull.

A lot has changed around here since that sign was painted, but it felt worth keeping a piece of where it all started.

We couldn’t ask for much better than that.

Thank you, Virginia. And thank you to everyone who continues to support our farm, whether you’re shopping with us online, meeting us at a farmers market, filling your freezer with a Blackwater Beef Share, or simply telling a friend about us.

We appreciate every bit of it.

We’re pretty honored to be Georgia Grown’s Farmer of the Week.

We started Blackwater Pastures with a pretty simple idea: raise good cattle, take care of the land beneath them, and give families a way to know where their beef comes from.

We’re still learning, still improving, and still doing the work every day here in Brooks County.

Thank you to Georgia Grown for sharing a little of our story, and to everyone who buys from us, visits us at the markets, tells a friend about the farm, or keeps Blackwater beef in the freezer. You’re a big part of why we get to do this.

We’re proud to call this little piece of South Georgia home.
