In this world of misinformation, we also work to correct misconceptions about the agricultural industry. We have two purposes in running this page.
1.To share our dairy and beef farm experiences and stories with each of you. To be a voice, or an "agvocate" for agriculture during a time in which misinformation about farming practices is abundant. We also have two hopes after you check out our page:
1. We hope you will like and share our posts to help us spread our stories and gain new followers.
2. . We hope you ask questions about dairy and farm practices. Maybe you're curious about something, unsure of something, or have heard bits and pieces about something, please don't hesitate to ask! There is a lot of misinformation out there. Much of it coming from those who have never set foot on a farm. Farmers put their blood, sweat, and tears, their entire lives, into caring for their animals and the Earth to produce and deliver a safe and nutritious product to the public. Even with the severe drought we have had this year our corn was still pretty decent. Not what we normally expect but could have been much worse. This speaks to the breeding technique and technology in the corn today that this crop was able to survive this summer.

There’s been a lot of discussion about bringing more beef from Argentina into the U.S. to increase supply and hopefully lower prices.

For consumers, more imported beef could mean lower prices on some products. But for American farmers, increased imports can put downward pressure on the price they receive for their cattle while the cost of raising them stays high.

Land, hay, feed, fertilizer, fencing, equipment, fuel, veterinary care, labor and processing all cost money. Those costs don't disappear when cattle prices fall.

That’s why cost and value aren't always the same thing.
When you buy local beef, you're supporting the farmer who raised it here in Virginia, while knowing where your food came from and who produced it.

We're not saying imported beef is bad or unsafe. We're saying the cheapest option isn't always the greatest value.

While helping farmer hubby wrap hay, I couldn't help but notice he possessed a skill set not often seen at home. Don’t get me wrong, 15 years of marriage, he's doing pretty good, but I think he's making a few chores look a whole lot more difficult than he actually finds them. 🚜
Lucky to have an amazing man who shares my sense of humor.
