Glenmary Farm LLC

Glenmary Farm LLC Glenmary Farm is nestled between the Rapidan River and Clarks Mountain in Orange County Virginia and is owned by Tom and Kim Nixon.

It's a 380 acre farm with an additional 3,500 acres rented, of which 2,000 acres are devoted to crop production. Over the past twenty years the farm has grown into a grain, turkey and a highly diversified beef operation. Although we continue to grow and look for avenues to enhance our farming operation one thing has always remained the same and that is the commitment to work hard. Tom and Kim have

established a total program that ensures their strength and success in meeting the demands of today's cattlemen.

We recently celebrated an appreciation dinner with our great group of employees, family and friends! We can’t thank them and their families enough for all they do.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Glenmary Farm and Virginia Seed Company.

We finished our soybean and corn harvest a few days ago and earlier than expected because of the extreme dry weather we’ve had the past six weeks. Looking back on the 2024 crop season there is one thought that comes to mind, “The Good, the Bad, and the UGLY!!!!
The good came from God blessing us with everyone being safe, no major breakdowns and average yields. The bad and ugly came through us enduring two droughts and almost three weeks of wet, rainy weather, which caused the real ugly, grain quality issues.
More importantly, we cannot thank the great group of guys that works for us. Their dedication and hard work help to make this farm a success.

The best part is now we can start looking forward to crop 2025!!!!🚜🌽🌾🚜🌽🌾

We would like to encourage everyone to take a moment to check out this amazing auction today. There are so many people that have come together from across our wonderful ag community to help those that have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. We all know that many in the ag sector are in an economic recession and then imagine on top of that if you lost your farming infrastructure and you could be facing years to recover.

On a personal note I’m so proud of our very own Elizabeth Nixon Marshall for all of her efforts in coordinating this auction. She came to me just days after the hurricane hit and she said “I just feel like I need to come up with a way to help and I believe the best way is an online auction”.
I immediately said go for it and we will help however we can. It’s been amazing of the outpouring of support she has received and the auction has close to 100 lots.

Check them out and check out lot 68! We are donating 4 Riomax 360 tubs. If you have questions about the tubs please message us.

Thanks for the support and thanks to Elizabeth and the great folks at Salering.Live for helping our friends in the ag community!

Once again it was a privilege to help a great group of volunteers from across the state to raise money for the State Fair of Virginia Sale of Champions. We raised over $100,000 to go back to exhibitors and scholarships.
The highlight of the evening was having
Governor Glenn Youngkin participating in the auction.

YES! It’s going to happen today! The first sighting of the sun in almost two weeks. We have corn still standing in the field that has been covered with water, we have corn sprouting and we probably have beans sprouting. However, at the end of the day we are very thankful for what we have after almost two weeks of rain.

Our prayers go out to those that have had their lives impacted from the horrific flooding especially those in the ag community. 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️

I think the hardest part of starting the fall harvest is having the patience to wait for the crop to be at the best harvestable maturity. We start harvesting corn at 25-27% moisture and then we grind and bag it as high moisture corn to feed our cattle in the feedlot.
The past couple of days we’ve been harvesting soybeans.

We recently hosted the Historic Rapidan Foundation for their annual fall picnic. It was great to visit with everyone in our beautiful Rapidan community. We are so grateful to live in an area blessed in rich history and to have its citizens wanting to preserve it.
