Lotsa Spots Farm has completed first cutting square bales of horse quality Orchard Grass mixed hay. The last field produced an additional 850 bales which brings the total on first cut square bales to about 3000 bales. We will be sending in samples for testing next week. The next window of no rain will start our horse quality round bale harvest with the new to us Kabota 4160 round baler.

Lotsa Spots Farm has completed our first run of 2026 Horse Quality Orchard Grass mixed square bales with minimal equipment repairs to do (1 wagon tire and 1 accumulator tire). We made right at 2000 square bales; sold some in the field, put up about 1300 and we will be delivering 400 to Franklin Monday. We will continue this process as soon as the next window is available.

We will start round baling within the next couple to three weeks and debut our new Kubota 4160 round baler that does both string tied and net wrapped round bales

Another busy day in the hayfield!
We raked and baled the rest of the hay on the ground. With a total of 1470 bales we got 800 loaded on wagons today and will finish the 670 bales tomorrow and get it all in the dry.
