Our favorite pass time! We have been working on the relationship between them. A very excited toddler and teenage chickens is not a perfect match. Treat time through the fence has been working. It has helped them trust her. In the evening when locking the coop for the night I let her hold them and they will actually approach her now.

The girls finally have an automatic chicken door that actually works on the timer. Today was the first day it went off. I came out to check on them and I noticed the hawks were out. So not sure if they were confused the door opened and nobody was there or that they went out and noticed the hawks.

Either way I'm pumped I don't have to manually open and shut it everyday just because you know. We have had our girls for 3 weeks now and they have grown so much. They seem happy and healthy!

Reyn's Play Yard is ready for fun! Everything used to build the play yard over the past two seasons has either been reused from the property, free on the side or the road or market place. Today I put down new mulch and filled in the extended picnic area. 🌞

Today I walked down the driveway to get the mail and I noticed these plants literally everywhere. My curiosity got the best of me, and boy am I glad it did. After some intensive Google research and going down the rabbit hole I discovered these are PEONIES! I am so excited to have these out here. The only issue alot of them are in areas we are clearing out.

And the color is...Pink. My daughter asked if she could pick out the color and I figured why not. So we settled on dusty rose. I figured it would be muted, welp that is not the case, it is bubble gum pink.

It may not be our preferred color but if it brings a smile to a child and it will one day be a fond memory then that's all that matters. 💗

When the small handheld torch doesn't cut it...you bring out the 40 pounds of propane and an upgrade.

I attached the propane tank to an old hand truck and dragged it around. I may have had a little way too much fun with this! I did end up making a second round and evening out the burn on a few of the beds.

Not only does the wood burning give them a rustic look, it provides a chemical-free was of preserving the wood, and the char acts as a barrier against insects.

We need to fix a few boards and reinforce the nesting boxes. Our daughter picked out the color already. Any guesses at to what color?
