‼UPDATE‼ We are ecstatic at the growth the series continues to have! We want to give huge thanks to everyone for being flexible with us at our first show of the season! Due to the increase in entries, we have decided to update our schedule and hold our jumper classes on a different day than our hunters/eq.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Although there may be shows that are smaller and could fit everything in, we don't want our jumpers to always be unsure of what the schedule may look like. We also hope that this helps our jumper shows continue to grow! 🌻 We will have an update to the prizelist posted tomorrow that will include additional jumper divisions and a fun ♥️♣️gamblers choice♦️♠️ class!!!

It is my pleasure to officially announce and welcome to the Cedar Valley and Silver Moon family, BW Stables, as well as the Penn State Equestrian team and the IEA high school and middle school teams, "Endeavor's All" . After a very long search to find the perfect partnership in horsemanship, we are happy to provide boarders, as well as riding students and their families, the complete package. Becky Weik, Larissa Fischer, and their horse family bring 18 thoroughbreds, warmblood crosses, and more to the farm to board, teach, and train. Becky is a veteran in the horse business as a United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) certified trainer, instructor, and is currently working on earning her “r” judging card with USEF. She has also been very involved with the thoroughbred program “New Start” which aims to retrain young horses for a better life after their racing career. Becky and her partner, Larissa, are extremely knowledgeable and professional with a superb background in Dressage, Hunters, and Equitation. They have traveled and showed all over the country taking students to successfully compete to high honors at their respective shows. I am beyond proud to extend our Silver Moon program and our Arabians, to Becky and Larissa. I am certified through CHA and will focus more distinctly on beginners, with Becky and Larissa teaching beginners and as students advance, they will then have the ability to advance on to BW Stables for further instruction. They will be able to take kids to show at the Arabian shows, rated hunter/jumper/equitation shows, as well as schooling shows in the area (including coaching at our very own Silver Moon shows). As this transition has taken place over the past few months, things are running seamless and I've never been more proud that the dream I had when we first started, has been reached, as we provide a great facility to people who truly love it. We share the horsemanship skills with our love of teaching horses, kids, and grownups. We will continue to grow, as we we'll be expanding our outdoor arena as well as providing more parking and a complete loop turn around the whole barn for larger trailers to be able to come on and off the property easily. We find that we have all truely come HOME together!

This is an important read and reminder! Many of us loves to jump, but we forget the toll it can have on our horses if we over-jump. Flat work and days off on the trail can be just as beneficial! 💗🐴

I get it, a majority of kids love to jump. I do too. I look forward to my weekly jump schooling session and competitions. Jumping is part of the motivation, for me, that goes into flat-work.

What I struggle with is the kids who who jump everyday, any-day. Whats more infuriating is the parents that encourage it.

A pony or a horse only has so many jumps in its life. A pony is not built or bred to be jumped everyday. Especially now that we are in the middle of summer, the ground is rock hard.

I just have to go on social media and witness the daily array of photos and videos of kids jumping their ponies. Day after day.

There are three reasons why as a general rule, my horses are limited to jump schooling one to two times a week.
-The basics. Limiting my jump schooling sessions encourages me to focus on the flatwork. anyone who had me as a coach will have heard me say, 'jumping is just flatwork over sticks'. One wise coach taught me this years ago. 99% of the issues I have jumping can be corrected by going back to the flatwork.
-Injury prevention. Horses are not designed to jump and jump and jump everyday. You risk lameness and the potential of a pony 'breaking down'. The impact of daily jumping is increased when the ground gets rock hard, like right now.
-Boredom. My horses love to jump. Just like humans horses get bored of doing the same thing again and again and again. Every week my horses routine is a mixture of hacking, flat-work, fitness work (especially Hippo), and jump schooling.

To the parents, this is your job to educate your kid. And its starts right at the beginning when they are learning to jump. Its saying 'No, the pony has jumped enough', when they plead to keep on going. Its your job to listen to the coaches when they say enough jumping. Its your job to teach your kid about the idea of quality jumping over quantity jumping.

A horse/pony only has a limited number of jumps. If for nothing else then the sake of the horse think quality of quantity, less jumping better jumping.

Day 1 of our Silver Moon Winter camp a success as we begin day 2. Yesterday the professionals at Unionville Equine Associates gave us a tour of their surgery center and helped the kids understand life saving practices for our beloved equines. Lots of riding in the indoor, as the cold wasn't an issue with kids learning and having fun with horses!

Being new to horsemanship, I came here to look around to get some ideas of what style of riding I like more and training from there, and I have to say I am very impressed. I've been watching films to help too and I found this documentary, The Great Flip-Off, that's about the ba****ck riders who used to perform in the circus. The athleticism and listening skills of their horses was extraordinary. I highly recommend to anyone who may be interested in the varying training process of horses for different facets. I was able to find it on Amazon and VOD everywhere.
