Yesterday was move-in day at the Michigan State Fair, along with the Junior Fitting Contest.

Congratulations to our Flat River Livestock exhibitors, Sam Bell and Carley Richardson, on being named the Reserve Champion Senior Fitting Team!

Everyone is getting settled in, and we’ll be here through Monday. If you’re at the fair, be sure to stop by, say hi, and check out the cattle!

Exciting news to report from the Oakland County Fair!
Sam Bell was selected as the 2026 Grand Champion Market Steer on top of being the supreme champion showman and rate of gain winner. Sam, we are so excited for you and very proud of all that you have accomplished!
I met Sam five years ago when I started at Bowers School Farm. He showed multiple different species through that program but always had a passion for cattle. As circumstances changed, I moved away and his family purchased their first farm, Sam was ready to raise and show his first fat steer and reached out to us last fall. We paired him up with a skinny green calf that we thought would be a perfect first steer. I think it’s safe to say that “Brisket” was the perfect choice! They’ve had an unbreakable bond since day 1 and there is no one more deserving! Sam is the hardest working kid I have ever met and has a willingness to continue to learn and grow. His future sure is bright, not only in the show stock world but wherever his path takes him! Congratulations Sam!

Calves are starting to take shape and we are excited to offer a small group of high quality show calves! Reach out to Carlie or Jake, we welcome visitors anytime and would love to help you find the right fit.

We love receiving show steer updates! Gabe and Sam are putting in the hard work and it’s showing! Keep it up boys!

If you didn’t know, we do offer a small group of steers every year and we think this year’s offering will be the best yet. Reach out if you’d like to see what we have to offer!
