It’s hard to believe that Fall is upon us and the holidays are fast approaching. Many of you may have heard that it is becoming more challenging to harvest beef as one of the areas 2 USDA butchers just closed its doors for the foreseeable future. Fortunately for us and for you, due to some unforeseen circumstances, we have two butcher dates available and two beef left to sell this year as quarters, halves or wholes.
If you are interested having some beef for your freezer by the end of this year, please let me know by 10/29/22 as any unsold beef will be heading out to auction the first week of November.
If you haven’t reserved your beef for 2023, please do so as soon as possible as quantities will be limited and it is already selling fast.

Many of you may have heard that we are dealing with the closure of another butcher in the area which means butcher dates are at a premium. We have been fortunate enough to secure some dates but recognize that hamburger will likely be in very limited supply for the next few months unless something changes. Our next hamburger harvest should be available early to mid November. This will be first come first served so please don't delay in reserving yours now. We have some beautiful grass-fed beef organs available to reserve through Saturday, September 10 this week. I have someone who will take the whole lot but want to offer it to you first. I need the freezer space, so we have reduced the price to $3 per pound for most organs. We have liver, tongue, heart, kidneys, oxtail etc.
Please email or text to let me know what you would like. You don’t have to collect it by Saturday but must reserve it so that I can hold it for you.

Here we are at the Fallon Canteloupe Festival! Come in and visit us at the Farmer's market at the Fallon Fairgrounds at 325 Scheckler Road. There will be lots of things to see and many activities. We have our local, ranch raised hamburger available straight from the butcher today! If you want to sample our delicious ground beef or re-stock, we are selling by the pound for the first time with no minimum quantity. We will be here all weekend so come and meet us.

Tickets are now on sale for the Historic Barn Tour of the Carson Valley. This is a self-driving tour with docent lead tours on site and encompasses six historic barns of the Carson Valley. Ticket includes free admission to both the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center and the Courthouse Museum in Genoa and concludes with an ice cream social at the Carson Valley Museum.
Tickets are $25.00 per person, $20.00 for DCHS members.
