The Story Behind the Tournament 🏌️❤️

If you know me, you probably know I come from a family FULL of golfers. And when I say full, I mean it. 😂

My husband’s side of the family has an annual camping trip built around what we affectionately call the Connor Family Golf Tournament. It started because my nephew, Tyler Bowe, wanted to find a way to get the whole family together for a weekend of golf.

And he definitely knows how to put on a golf tournament.

We average about 23 family members camping together, with most of them golfing. We have teams, prizes, plenty of competition, and, of course, a healthy amount of family bragging rights on the line. 😂

It's become one of those things we look forward to every year—not just because of the golf, but because it gives our family a reason to get together, laugh, compete, and make memories.

So when The Short Game opened its doors for its inaugural season here in Republic, my husband Josh and Tyler got their memberships as quickly as they could.

And what an amazing thing it is to have a golf course back in Republic!

Those two have spent many days this summer on that course, so when Tyler learned about Feeding Ferry County, it didn't take long for an idea to take shape.

He asked me if I would be open to having a golf tournament as a fundraiser for Feeding Ferry County.

Of course I said yes!

Tyler already had plenty of experience organizing our family tournament, so he was the perfect person to take that idea and turn it into something bigger.

After we ironed out what a charity tournament could look like, Tyler immediately got in touch with the owners of The Short Game to discuss the possibility and submit a proposal.

And they said yes.

Not only did they say yes, they were excited to partner with us to put on this tournament—a good cause, a great local course, and an opportunity to bring more people together right here in our community.

And that's how Tee Up for a Cause got started.

What began with one family's tradition of getting together, forming teams, competing for prizes, and making memories is now becoming an opportunity to bring our whole community together for a cause that matters.

I love that this tournament has a little bit of our family history built into it. And I love even more that Tyler's idea is helping us create something new for Feeding Ferry County.

So grab your family, your friends, your coworkers, or your favorite golf buddies and come join us!

Thank You, Donors & Community Partners 💛

This week, we’re sending a big thank you to Jennifer Miller, Jeanne Connor, Steph Whiteley and an anonymous monthly donor for supporting Feeding Ferry County! 🧡

Monthly donations, even $10 a month, make a big difference for our organization. Those small, steady gifts help us plan, purchase what we need, and keep our shelves stocked for our community.

We also want to take a moment to thank the people and organizations who help make our work possible:

📚 Thank you to Republic and Curlew Libraries for being community-centered places where people can access food with dignity and ease. We are grateful for the space you provide and the role you play in connecting this food with our community.

☀️ Thank you to Communities in Schools of Northeast Washington, and especially Dani Becklin, for partnering with us on the Summer Snack Shack this year. Because of the Snack Shack, we’ve been able to reach even more people in our community this summer.
