Yesterday's negative temps were thoroughly enjoyed in front of the fireplace. Can't really blame them.

We've posted these kind of pictures several times over the years. -12⁰ isn't exactly unheard of out here, but it is definitely damn cold especially with the winds that we're seeing too.

The animals are bundled up, the birds are all staying inside today, and we're minimizing anything dealing with being outside.

Stay warm out there!

Perks of the job. MRI confirmed it's officially it's a partially torn bicep tendon. Unofficially, it sucks.

Another long road to get from there to here, but we have officially decided to not continue our efforts with our beautiful pigs. One of our biggest desires for all of our animals is to allow them the opportunity to serve the purpose they are intended for. Since they won't be doing that with us, we would be happy to offer them another opportunity elsewhere.

We have three AKKPS registered and one unregistered KuneKune pigs, two male and two female adults available. We would prefer all four go together, but would be willing to split breeding pairs. Sorry, we will not do individual animals at this time.

Feel free to reach out for details if interested.

We've got a lot to talk about. All in due time, of course. But let's talk about cattle for a minute. Specifically miniature highlands.

This morning I left all of the miniature highland groups I was subscribed to on my personal Facebook account. It's not that we don't want anything to do with highlands - Herbie will be with us for the foreseeable future. It's that we've learned a great deal over the past several years of doing this.

We put in a lot of effort over the years trying to make the livestock thing work, but it didn't pan out for various reasons. We will get into that at another time. But as far as using Facebook groups as a vehicle for sales goes, it was a disaster. Finding buyers was next to impossible. The amount of negative back biting, false claims and of course outright lies in these groups were enough on their own to decide that we were done.

We still absolutely love the breed. We will continue to love and spoil Herbie, at least until such a time that the absolute right home might come about for him (if ever that happens). We've met a few really great people (and a lot more not so great ones) along the way.

But my suggestion, if you come across this post and think to yourself "I want to get into miniature highlands because l ..."

Just don't. The community is toxic. The lies are expensive. The pain and frustration is immense.

3 years later he is off to greener pastures. It’ll be warmer in NC and he will have a heard of his own. All we ever wanted was for someone to see what an amazing heard sire he would be. We are so grateful to have found that someone.

Trying this one last time before harder decisions need to be made.

3 year old yellow/brindle chondro highdex mini bull in search of a new pasture. Roughly 42in. He is a good kid and generally behaves well with a very even temperament. Can be led easily both on lead and off lead - the latter provided you have some treats in your pocket.

We have his sire on premise if anyone is interested in him as well. Happy to discuss via phone or video call.

We were simply just not ready for this.

This year time seems to have gotten away from us. So many projects and not enough time. And now it's time for it all to come to a grinding halt.

Sure, we have plenty of indoor projects and whatnot, but that's not the point. All of the outdoor stuff that needed to get finished before the snow flew ... well, it didn't. I can officially say that it didn't even dawn on me that it's already mid-November until I had a shovel in hand and three layers of clothing on.

But here we are.
