We have lost a young meat goat, Emma, to a predator in the pasture. All our pastures are inside 4 strand electric wire and in 20 years we have never had a problem. The predator was a neighbors dog, possibly 2 dogs. We have called the Dog Control Officer for town of Orwell (Samantha Butler). The dogs also injured 3 other meat goats. Emma was a breeding female and we are heartbroken to lose her. We will have to have the vet for the other three to be sure they continue to recover. The dog in question has been a problem for another neighbor. Because the attack was in the pasture, the dairy does in the neighboring pasture have been upset and milk production has gone down.
