I pretty much learned how to swim in the black waters of the Edisto River. I spent my Summers digging up clay from its banks, to make things and let them cure in the sun all day.... dug for countless hours, searching for “sharks teeth”, rode up and down on jet skis, and my Grandaddy taught me how to canoe, right here, on this stretch, from Givhans, to Sullivan’s Ferry, I learned a lot about life on those trips. In the evenings, you could often find my Grandaddy sitting at the edge of her banks, in his chair, just watching the river go by.... I’m honored that I got to be raised by the Edisto and even more honored to be able to provide a service that I KNOW my grandaddy would’ve been ONE HUNDRED PERCENT in support of! I’m just a transplant from Florida, whose fondest childhood memories are of this river. Now, I get to raise my kids right beside the Edisto, and I consider it an honor and a privilege. I’m a river girl and always will be!
