Got the new planters done just in time for fall! These planters also will help keep the winter snows from drifting on the porch. Can’t wait to put plants in it for spring! The backside also has storage for de-icer and such. Will likely add a little curtain or doors to hide the stuff.

With all that has been happening in life this year, we managed to get a small garden going. We planted a little late, but at least the corn has graced us with a LOT of ears for the number of plants. Butternut squash isn’t ready yet, but promising a good harvest there are well.

Yesterday was it. It will be marked on the Mabie’s Farm calendar. The main components of the barn and feed side have been completed. The barn structure is ready for the winter. We, on the other hand, are exhausted.

Started the day with about half of the feedside pavers in. Completed getting the pavers in with trimmed edged pieces and entire floor sanded.

Finished the day by framing in the front wall and getting the skin on.

Caleb can now safely finish the trench in the front of the barn and tie it into the feedside drain trench.

Will get the doors framed and hung when I get back from CA next Tuesday. Goal is to have the feedside ready for use and the French drains completed before I drive back to CA with Caleb for school in mid-AUG.

Started with just covered drain pipe and liner on the feedside this morning.

This afternoon finished with a filled and 95% graded/leveled side. 5.88 tons of 3/4” crushed rock loaded by hand, moved by hand wagon, and filled by hand. This was after filling the first French drain trench.

Weather conditions were brutal. 78F dry bulb. 78% RH. Worked between thunder showers.

Still need tamping with final leveling before putting in paver floor.

Getting the French drain pipes in and covered just in time for first test.
