But seriously, look how big this raspberry is! Second harvest is light but awesome. If you want some fresh pints/half-pints before fr❄️st comes our way, send me a message or call. Otherwise, I’m picking to stock up the freezer for winter projects.

Irrigating the raspberries and blueberries. Our rain dance keeps missing the mark, so we’re back to watering the fruit crops. At least the kids have fun playing in the sprinklers a little.

That’s a wrap on picking hours for Raspberries 2025! Thank you to everyone who came for our first summer and enjoyed the view. We’re going to shift our focus to field maintenance and getting ready for winter.

There’s still fruit to ripen, but it’ll be a slow go as the weather gets cooler and fr❄️st warnings approach. I’ll keep picking in between field jobs and start freezing pints. If you’re interested in buying freezer pints, send me a message. When there’s extra fresh half pints available, we’re also supplying The Farm Store in Pottsville.

Thank you for a lovely picking season. We’re looking forward to a bigger and better 2026. Stay tuned for field updates and fun farm happenings as we work through our off-season to-do list.

Trying a new experiment again. As you come in our driveway, look for the sunflowers planted below the road. Nothing fancy, but something to keep the pollinators happy in between blossom periods. And the deer seem to enjoy the sunflowers too. Maybe it’ll keep them out of our fruit plantings…

Even the moths and butterflies are in on the action. There’s a few late blossoms just starting to open and attract all kinds of pollinators. Come join the activity in the raspberry field today.

Raspberry picking with us tends to include toddlers practicing customer service and at least one nosey barn cat. The ripe raspberries are scattered between 6 inches to 4 foot off the ground. It’s a scavenger hunt for all ages and arm spans.

While this variety is happily on its second harvest, now is the right time to prune out dead canes to get ready for winter. If you’re pruning, don’t leave the canes behind because they can harbor bacteria. We’ll soon be cutting canes, burning the debris, and adding a new layer of wood chips to freshen their winter bedding.

Raspberries are great to eat fresh. I also like to use them for projects throughout the year when I have more time. Freeze raspberries for quick work in making jam, jelly, and wine. I make a raspberry champagne sauce that’s fantastic for ice cream and pound cake.

This variety is called Niwot. Don’t know why, but it’s a name worth remembering with how well they produce. The first harvest is plentiful with small berries. The second harvest isn’t as large in quantity but makes up for it in fruit size. These berries are the size of nickels!
