To some, it’s just a cute picture of a little girl, her farm dog, and an old farm truck. To us, it’s so much more. 🤍
That old Ford has made its way around not one, but two farms. Jeremy Dyer’s grandpa owned it before Cole Adkins’ grandpa bought it — funny how it became part of both of our families’ stories. One day, she’ll finally retire out here on our farm. Some days she needs a little pep talk to get going, but that’s a story for another day. We’ll just say she’s special to us. ❤️
And that little girl? She’s been around farming since she was in the womb. It’s all she’s ever known. She spends her days at school, a few hours at gymnastics, then comes straight home ready to help with farm work. She wouldn’t miss it for the world. She loves watching it all and helping wherever she can. She sees the long hours, the hard work, the blood (literally), sweat, and tears poured into this life. I just hope we’re teaching her that hard work will take you far and that you can always do hard things.
Then there’s the farm dog — number five, Birdee. Named straight from the movie Hope Floats because apparently I’m a hopeless romantic in my spare time. 😂 She’s right there beside her favorite little person, doing her favorite thing: checking out the farm. We can’t wait to watch her grow into her role of protecting what’s ours.
So yes, it’s a sweet picture of a little girl with her farm dog sitting in her daddy’s old farm truck. But to us, it’s a reminder of what she’s growing up seeing. A reminder that even after long days, we keep working hard to provide for our family. A reminder to be gentle on that old red truck while soaking up every memory made inside of it.
These are the moments I want to remember forever — our little farm, this simple life, and the little girl who will hopefully run it one day (along with her sissy, of course). 🤍
