If there's one thing I've learned, it's that life doesn't slow down just because your plate is already full. 😅

Between working on my doctorate, being a full-time caregiver, raising my daughter, cooking for a house full of people, and trying to keep this little corner of the internet growing... it's been a WEEK! 🫠😂

But here's the thing: even in the middle of the chaos, we're still finding reasons to laugh, making memories, and taking things one day at a time. ❤️

And speaking of chaos... we're bringing more family fun, random conversations, cooking adventures, and unpredictable LIVEs your way! 👀🤣

Around here, we're cooking through chaos, making memories, working toward dreams, and just trying to survive each other's personalities. 🤣❤️

And after yesterday's Family Court, I'm convinced every family has at least ONE person who needs to be put on trial. ⚖️😂

I’ve gone back and forth on whether to share this, because asking for help is not something that comes easily to me.

For almost a year, we have tried to handle everything on our own while Mom has gone through surgery after surgery, cancer treatment, radiation, kidney failure, dialysis, countless appointments, hospital visits, and everything in between. Through all of it, I’ve become her full-time caregiver, which also means I’m not currently working.

We’ve done our best to keep up, but between gas to and from appointments, medical expenses, regular household bills, and everything else that keeps piling up, we’ve reached a point where we could really use some help.

So I finally created a GoFundMe for Mom and our family. ❤️

Please do not feel pressured to donate. Even sharing the link, saying a prayer, sending some encouragement, or simply keeping us in your thoughts means more than you know. If you are able to help financially, every single dollar truly helps take a little bit of weight off our shoulders while we focus on getting Mom through everything she is facing.

I started this doctoral journey in April, and just six months later, I’ve already completed 14 doctoral credits while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. 🥹🎓❤️

When I started, I genuinely didn’t know if I could do this. A doctorate felt huge, intimidating, and so far outside anything I had ever attempted before. But here I am—14 credits in, still standing, still pushing, and still holding onto that 4.0.

These last six months have taught me that confidence doesn’t always come first. Sometimes you have to keep showing up, doing the work, and proving to yourself little by little that you’re capable of more than you thought.

I still have a long way to go, but today I’m letting myself be proud of this milestone.

Started in April.
14 doctoral credits completed. 86 more to go.
4.0 GPA.
Six months in. 🥹❤️

One class, one paper, and one ridiculously long discussion board at a time. 😂🎓

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗🎀

This one hits a little differently for our family.

Behind the recipes, the kitchen chaos, the laughs, and everything that makes up Academic Apron, there has also been a very real cancer journey happening in the background.

My mom was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer, underwent a double mastectomy, faced 2 surgeries afterward, and then went through radiation. There were appointments, procedures, scary days, exhausting days, tears, prayers, and moments where we simply had to take things one day at a time.

And then came the words we had been waiting and praying for:

Cancer free. 💗

Those two words carry a weight I don’t think you fully understand until cancer touches someone you love.

This month, I’m wearing pink for my mom, my aunt, for every woman still fighting, for every survivor learning how to live after cancer, for the families standing beside them, and for the ones we remember with love.

Please do your screenings. Pay attention to your body. Advocate for yourself. And never underestimate how much a phone call, a meal, a ride to an appointment, or simply showing up can mean to someone going through this.

Mom, this pink is for you. 🎀💗

Started with a bathroom and somehow ended up with a full-blown DIY personality crisis 😂🔨

There were measurements, drywall dust, questionable decisions, “that should be fine” moments, and probably at least one trip back to the store for something we forgot 😅 But seeing the whole thing go from start to finish? 100% worth it.

Academic Apron: where apparently we cook, study, and renovate bathrooms now. 😂
