What a whirlwind of emotions this week and I realized I forgot to update the homestead page.
Friday night as I was taking our girl Cheese to bed. For those of you new here or not familiar with Cheeses story. I took in the teeniest little wood duck at maybe twelve hours old in June and raised her this summer. She is the most beautiful wood duck hen I ever did see. She is my baby and we had a really close bond. But as my heart knew from the beginning, Friday night Cheese followed that pull of natural migration, wiggled her way out of my hand, came up to my face put her beak to my lips and flew off over the house.
Wood ducks are natural migratory birds. They nest in northern wetlands during the spring and raise their babies here. When fall starts to approach, they follow the pacific migration runway down south for the colder weather.
I’d be lying if I said my heart wasn’t hurting. But it’s mostly filled with peace that we saved this tiny little baby and gave her a safe space to grow big and strong enough to do what she was created to do.
With that being said 😅 sometimes God says we have to let go of one thing to make room for new right? Well the next day I got tagged in a post about a Rouen duck that had a sister but when they woke up that day, she was missing. They didn’t want her to be alone. Ducks do not do well on their own, they are very social birds. So we added Rikki Bobby to our Duck crew on Saturday! As you can see she’s adjusting so well and the others just love her to pieces! As do we! She’s to sweetest happiest girl!
So yeah here is our “two ducks to get our feet wet” crew 🤣🙈🙃😂
Quackers, Perry the platypus, Duck Norris, Macaroni, Biscuit, Gravy, and Rikki Bobby 🫶🏻✨
I hope everyone has a wonderful day today! Thank you for supporting us always!
