Got some beautiful 😍 Australorp chicks from a Neighbor.
Ended up with. 9 females and 11 males.

Female Australorps typically grow tail feathers earlier, often showing small tails at 1–2 weeks old.
Male Australorps generally grow their tail feathers later, usually starting around 3–5 weeks.
Females develop a full, neat, fast-feathering tail, while males develop tail feathers slower, often alongside faster-growing, redder combs by 4–6 weeks.

Key Differences in Australorp Feathering:

Females (Pullets): Often show tiny tail feathers within the first week or two.

Males (Cockerels): Slower to develop tail feathers and often show larger, redder combs around 4-6 weeks.

Saddle/Hackle Feathers: Males will show long, pointed saddle feathers on their back near the tail around 8–12 weeks.

Final Plumage: Both sexes will have their full, glossy black plumage (green/purple sheen) by 16-24 weeks, though roosters will have more pronounced, long, pointed tail sickles
