When I took a photo of Churchill Smokey 5122N upon arrival at his new home, I chose a rear view to show the kids how incredibly wide he is for a 14 month old Polled Hereford bull. As I prepare to send it, GOOGLE AI added into the blank description - image of American Bison. I broke out in laughter……..That ended with the thought of my grandchildren having to put up with B.S. like this

This week is your opportunity to upgrade your herd with the Rausch Pick of the herd at the Cattleman’s Congress sale. We did in 2022 and it was so rewarding I repeated again in 2024. R Miss New York 1220, in the background, was my pick. Her mother was Jerry and Vern’s choice, GR Miss Anodize 28. In 2024, Shannon,Peter, Jerry and Jacob advised me on a complementary genetic matriarch, R Miss Anodize 801……. We are so small of an operation of Revolution 4R genetics that “potential” became a reality immediately. This heifer in the foreground is out of our Genesis son and I’m wondering if she remembers that a year ago it was -9 and wind blowing snow horizontally?

My choice for outcross genetics: Churchill Final Print 3130L. His dam, Churchill Lady 1221J ET, just absolutely blew me away at the Dispersal. She was so good that they flushed her before she had calved! He sold as leadoff 2 yr old bull to Ashewood and Missouri State. 1221J is a perfect example of a moderate - framed Hereford. I immediately went on the hunt for one of her progeny and chose him over his flushmate, Laredo. You have read that I only use proven sires after I see some calves ———WELL ———-???!!!! These pics are as he came offf the truck at Ashewood in March. Have 3 calves due in February and will flush Miss Anodize 28 to him this month.

I want to extend a loud hearty THANK YOU to RAUSCH Herefords and CROSS COUNTRY GENETICS - NORTH for enabling my peaceful easy feeling and wide smile as I pass thru my girls. 801,1200 and 28 were our PICK of the RAUSCH females in 2022 and 2024. Vern,Jerry and Shannon picked a great one in 2022. Jacob,Peter and Shannon helped me with 801 in 2024 to create two complementary highly maternal bloodlines. CCGN has guided me effectively with the ET program for years. Now, that the damn Alzheimer’s has take Jane, focus is back on making great Polled Hereford momma cows. Our founding motto NO HORNS….NO ATTITUDES is unchanged.

Put some heifers and the AI’d cows out last week in the new Carlson pasture. 1500 T-posts and field fencing around this X-CRP ground. They have had their heads down in the 3’ tall grass all week and now have grass bellies, making them look pregnant. If they would only eat the remaining sericea we could go organic. So lucky that July rains -yes-have not included HAIL this year.

Down to my previous “Untouchables” in my herd dispersal. Bulls are still here and growing. Almost shed a tear when 1K and her dynamite month—old bull calf got loaded up and delivered
Guess my future will include road trips to see my girls.
