“CHEAP BEEF.” BUT AT WHAT COST?

Before we celebrate cheaper imported beef, Americans deserve to know where their food is coming from and what other countries have already found.

On March 19, 2026, Chinese customs reported detecting chloramphenicol in a 22-ton container of Argentine beef from the ArreBeef plant in Pérez Millán, Buenos Aires. China suspended imports from that establishment while the incident was investigated.

Why does that matter?

Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic that Argentina itself has prohibited for use in animals intended for human consumption.

And this wasn't the first alarm involving Argentine beef and China. In 2016, chloramphenicol was also reported in Argentine beef exported to China.

Now look at what America is doing.

In 2026, the United States opened an additional 80,000 metric tons of Argentine beef to lower-tariff entry—on top of Argentina's existing beef quota—as part of an effort aimed at making beef more affordable.

“Cheap beef.” Trump Said.

But I have a question:

Why are we looking thousands of miles away for cheaper beef while American cattlemen and family farms are right here?

This isn't about claiming every piece of Argentine beef is contaminated—it isn't. And Argentina disputed the 2026 finding and investigated it.

It's about asking why FOOD SECURITY and AMERICAN FARMERS AND RANCHERS aren't at the center of the conversation.

I don't simply want the cheapest food.

I want to know where it came from, how it was raised, what was used on it, and who we're supporting when we buy it.

Know your farmer.
Know your rancher.
Know your food.

Support American farms. Support local ranchers. Support food freedom.

Beautiful morning for loading out our 5th batch of birds for the year! These guys had to endure some pretty intense heat but we figured out a few tricks along the way to keep mortality rates low. Solar fans and ice water were a game changer but added a lot of extra visits to the pasture.

These will be available at the end of the week for your freezer! Taylor’s Ranch & Meats Custom Meat Processing. Is now air chiling all their chicken and the results have been awesome!

This is not how you put America first. This is not how you strengthen our food system. Releasing the stranglehold on local farms should be the first step. Investing in stronger local food is where the focus needs to be.

Affordable beef starts with a strong American cattle industry. We need policies that strengthen domestic supply and address historically low herd numbers.

We have had to let a lot of our plants die from the heat and lack of rain. 😭 There is just not enough time to water everything by hand. But our tomatoes are worth fighting for! We make sure to keep them well watered since we need every tomato we can get to make sure we can make all of our tomato-based sauces and salsa for the year.

This was our first batch of salsa of the year. We harvest the tomatoes before they are fully ripe to avoid sunspots and bugs. Then we let them sit covered on the counter until they are fully ripe. Once they are ready, we cut out the core and freeze them until we get a full cooler full (or just need space in the freezer) The freeze and thaw process makes the skin literally fall right off and releases lost of liquid which means less cooking time!

Tomatoes are a huge staple for our family and are worth the time and energy!

What is still alive in your garden right now?

After a long stretch with no rain, intense sun and high temp and humidity, we finally got some rain the other day. But it came with some really strong winds that blew rain right into our brooder full of chicks we just picked up from the hatchery 2 hours before the storm hit!

They all got completely soaked and we had to bring them inside and enlist the help of our good friends to help dry them all off and bring them back to life. An hour later they were all fluffy again and we only had 1 casualty!

Our 2 batches out in the pasture weathered the storm just fine and probably enjoyed cooling off 😅
We have a batch going to the processor next week so we will be restocked on legs and thighs
