It’s been a long time since I updated this page. 2020 was a rough year for everyone, but for myself and my family it was extra hard. My health has been in a slow decline, I changed jobs at the hospital (great change but still a big one), I’ve had a child in crisis, and I accidentally stumbled into a writing career. I was not able to make my trip to Kenya in August due to Covid restrictions. I could go on, but it’s just been a roller coaster, and the energy and enthusiasm for my farm project just wasn’t there. But that’s not to say that I stopped. I had a glorious harvest of vegetables in the fall - far more than we could eat or give away. I saved seed from my bloody butcher maize, which I hope to send on to Kenya. I still have all my poultry. I worried about how the ducks would manage the winter, but they’ve done quite well. This weekend I did bring them in and give them a heat lamp as tempatures plummeted to -9F. This is a picture of my bewildered ladies having a ride in the truck. 🤣 I am looking forward to 2021 with new goals and new insight.

Harvested a drake today. Duck meat is so dark and rich it almost looks like beef. (Breast meat pictured)
