Dr. B Bakes

Dr. B Bakes I have spent nearly my entire adult life pursuing my career in medicine, which, don't get me wrong, is still my first love.

However, baking and creating beautiful desserts has become such a passion of mine that I'm almost always working on my next creation. As a graduate of the Program in Patisserie and Baking at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, I have been lucky enough to be trained by some of the world's best pastry chefs. Using techniques I learned from them, I prepare all my desserts in my home kitchen, usi

ng only the best ingredients available. With a love for art, I see each dessert as a blank canvas. Nothing gives me more pleasure than transforming a delicious cake into a piece of edible art. I look forward to sharing my creations with you and hope to help make any special occasion even more special!

4 large eggs

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tbsp heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven: Set to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.

2. Prepare the Cake Batter:

In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk while mixing.

3. Bake the Cake: Pour batter into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Let cool.

4. Make the Buttercream Frosting: Beat butter, powdered sugar, cream, and vanilla until smooth.

5. Frost the Cake: Apply a crumb coat, let it set, then apply a smooth final layer.

6. Create Kitchen-Themed Fondant Decorations:

Mold fondant into tiny rolling pins, cooking pots, chef hats, and wooden spoons.

Use edible color markers to add details on fondant elements.

Arrange fondant decorations on top and around the cake to resemble a mini kitchen.

Add silver and gold dust for a realistic touch on utensils.

7. Final Touches: Allow the cake to set before serving.
