Aliento Luxury Fiber Farm We have a small herd of guanacos. We harvest their fiber, and the fiber of our Angora rabbits, Pygora goats, and merino sheep, to create hand-made yarns.

Our guanaco/merino yarn is coming soon…..
I wanted to check with the herd to see what they think of the label I created.

I think they liked the outside just fine, but when I asked them about the special message on the inside?

Well, I just think I see their fiber as a bit more poetic and special than they do!
When I was making the label, I really wanted to capture the idea that the knitter is part of the story.

“She watered the Moon” 23” x 36” handspun wool and silk, cotton warp tapestry weaving
This one is special. The water is the view of Drake’s Estero from Mount Vision in Inverness, CA. The moon and watering can are from a Soul Collage Card that I made several years ago. The two images combined feel important, like an internal world made real.

This spring we had to move full-grown Claude to his own pasture further away from the girls because he was just getting too rowdy trying to get to them. He is now in knee-high hay in our re-invigorated pastures, and has all he wants to eat. He loves being on top his hill.
