After months of investment, cleanup, activation, small-business support, community events, and breathing life into a dormant property, .johnscounty (St. Johns County) chose to shut down one of the few places actually creating opportunity on Old Moultrie Road.

According to the magistrate order, the issue wasn’t crime, nuisance, noise, or danger. It was paved parking counts, procedural approvals, and technical land-use interpretations - none of which were ever clearly articulated to us. Meanwhile, an underutilized corridor stays underutilized.

Read that again.

A site that was attracting families, supporting food trucks, creating vendor income, and generating positive local energy was deemed more problematic than vacancy.

This is exactly why people lose faith in local government.

When entrepreneurs take risk, invest capital, create jobs, and build community spaces, they should be met with solutions—not bureaucratic ambushes.

Instead, St. Johns County sent the message that initiative gets punished while stagnation gets tolerated.

We respect lawful process. We do not respect selective enforcement, anti-business inertia, or a system that seems more comfortable saying “no” than helping anything get to “yes.”
