There are a lot of things I love about this little place.
Yes, it’s a beautiful backdrop for photographs. But more than that, it’s become a place where families gather, celebrate milestones, slow down for an hour, and preserve the moments they’ll treasure for years to come.
Throughout August and September, those moments will mean a little more. 🧡
I’d like to tell you about Kayla Locke.
Kayla is a wife, a mama, a photographer, an educator, and someone who has had a tremendous impact on photographers all over the country - including me. I’ve learned through one of her courses, still edit with her presets today, and even had the opportunity to attend one of her shoot-alongs in the Wichita Mountains. Over the years, we’ve gotten to know each other a little, and watching everything unfold this week has been heartbreaking.
Kayla was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma.
In the weeks ahead, she and her family will be traveling out of state for treatment. As self-employed business owners, neither Kayla nor her husband will be able to work while they’re focused on her care. Their everyday bills won’t stop, and they’ll also be facing significant self-pay medical expenses.
Truthfully, this is the heart behind The Farmyard.
It was never meant to be just a beautiful place to take pictures. My hope has always been that it would be a place where memories are made and where, when the opportunity came, those memories could become a blessing to someone else.
