🍯🐝 Our first honey harvest is officially bottled! 🐝🍯

After months of hard work by thousands of bees (and a few stings for the beekeeper 😅), our very first harvest is ready!

This season produced 280 ounces of raw, local Michigan honey, and every jar was harvested from our own hives right here at Chambers Coop & Comb.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our little homestead. We truly appreciate it!

🍯 The wait is almost over!

After months of hard work by our bees (and a few stings for the beekeeper 😅), tomorrow we're finally harvesting our first batch of raw, local honey!

🐝 Honey Harvest Update! 🍯

Pending the weather, we're tentatively planning our very first honey harvest the weekend of August 1st!

Today's photo is one of the beautiful capped frames from our strongest hive. Every capped cell is filled with raw, local honey made right here by our hardworking bees. 🐝

We're now accepting pre-orders for our 10 oz glass jars, each including a complimentary honey dipper while supplies last.

Smoked our first home grown chicken and made broth with the left overs! 🍗

Today was processing day.

Twenty-four Cornish Cross officially graduated from the chicken tractor to the freezer. It wasn't the easiest day, but it's one of the most rewarding parts of raising your own food. We knew these birds had one purpose from the day they arrived, and we're grateful for every meal they'll provide our family.

They had fresh grass, sunshine, shade, plenty of food, and only one bad day in their entire lives. I'd say that's a pretty good life.

My daughter and I did a little bit of a chicken experiment making our own fermented feed! The girls LOVE it 😍 And, Yes, I dumped some of it on the wood pieces on purpose.

Fermented feed is essentially soaking milled feed in water for 2-3 days, stirring daily. Quite simple and very much enjoyed by them all! 🐔
