Think of seed germination as a tiny, organic wake-up call. Inside every seed is a "baby plant" packed with a lunchbox of energy.

The seed starts by soaking up water until it swells like a sponge, eventually causing its "winter coat" to pop open.

The very first thing to peek out is a tiny white "tail" called a radicle which heads straight down into the dirt to find more water and get a firm grip.

Once the roots are settled, a little green shoot pushes upward, determined to find light.

Plants are awesome
