PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH ZELLE TRANSACTIONS
I want to share my experience from yesterday because I don’t want anyone else, especially small business owners, to go through the same stressful situation, I dont really wish that on anyone,
I was contacted by someone who wanted to place a large catering order for an engagement party next week. Everything seemed like a potential business opportunity at first, but as the emails and texts continued I got the feeling something was not right.
The person wanted to pay through Zelle, and he did, but according to him he received a text alert from Zelle saying that his transaction was on hold, and he asked me If I had recieved a notification as well. I did receive a text that said I needed to call customer service. A very polite woman with a heavy accent was trying to explain the reason why my payment was on hold, I was trying my best to understand what the problem was... we were on the phone for a few minutes and nothing seemed to work , then she mentioned lets try another way, lets login into your Cash App! I said what? this does not make any sense, I am hanging up and going straight to the bank! The first thing the bank officer did was google the phone number the notification came from, it was a BIG SCAM!
It was a reminder that scammers can target small businesses by pretending to be customers with big orders.
🚨 PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF: GOOGLE numbers to verify!
✅ Never trust a payment screenshot or email as proof that you have been paid.
✅ Always verify payments directly through your bank or the official Zelle app.
✅ Never send money back because someone claims they overpaid you.
✅ Never share your banking information, passwords, or verification codes.
✅ If something feels wrong, STOP and verify before taking any action.
As small business owners, we work hard for every dollar we make. We cannot afford to lose money to people who take advantage of our hard work.
I'm sharing this not to discourage anyone from doing business, but to remind everyone to stay alert and protect themselves.
PLEASE SHARE THIS POST to help warn other business owners and anyone who uses Zelle. You never know who might need this reminder!
❤️ Stay safe, stay alert, and protect your business!
