26 chicken eggs and 28 quail eggs today! Woohoo!!
Excited for the next group of quail to mature and see who's a hen and who's a roo. Roos will be going to freezer camp and hens will be kept as layers. 5 more days until one incubator hatches and 10 days for the other 2 incubators to hatch out!!
I may or may not put more eggs in the incubator after that, we'll check the calendar and see how close it is to the baby's due date and how I'm feeling.

A fresh litter of Standard Rex was born on the homestead today! Our Harlequin is the momma. She was bred to our broken chocolate. I'm very excited to see how these babies will look in a couple of weeks!

Someone just bought a one way ticket to freezer camp. No refunds for that one... She got me good! Believe it or not, her mom is one of my FAVORITE rabbits we have! Mean bunnies don't get to be pets or breeders around here.

71 colorful jumbo coturnix quail transferred to the brooder from the incubators today. We had 2 casualties and a few more that have pipped and are staying in the incubator, we ensured they weren't trapped in their shells, transferred the remaining eggs to one incubator, and plugged it back in. Here's to hoping all of these chickies flourish and we have a few more hatch out!!

Here's to hoping The Hot Mess Homestead will follow me back! If y'all haven't heard of her, or seen her videos, you HAVE to go check out her page. I'm a long time follower on my personal page and following her on this page, too. She keeps it real and gives a good laugh!
Keep doing you!

What started as 15 in the one on the right and 2 in the left this morning has dramatically increased... I'm not even trying to count them lol. Today is day 17 in the incubator. Look at all of those colorful babies!! Who needs some jumbo coturnix quail chicks in southern Illinois?!
