To all of our dear customers of Juicy Lab Sanitizer Spray;

Today we received several phone calls from Juicy Lab customers worried about the kind of alcohol we are using in our sanitizer spray.

The concerns came from an article written in The New York Times as well as from a TV News report where they talked about how some Mexican companies are using methanol as their alcohol base. (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/22/health/fda-Eskbiochem-toxic-hand-sanitizer-virus.html?action=click&module=RelatedLinks&pgtype=Article)

“Methanol or Wood Alcohol is not an acceptable ingredient for hand sanitizers and should not be used due to its toxic effect. Substantial methanol exposure can lead to nausea, vomiting, headache, permanent blindness and seizures among other harmful effects”. The New York Times

CDC recommends ABHR (Alcohol-Based Hand Rub) with greater than 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol in healthcare settings.

“Ethyl alcohol, at concentrations of 60%–80%, is a potent virucidal agent inactivating all of the lipophilic viruses (e.g., herpes, vaccinia, and influenza virus) and many hydrophilic viruses (e.g., adenovirus, enterovirus, rhinovirus, and rotaviruses but not hepatitis A virus (HAV) or poliovirus). Isopropyl alcohol is not active against the nonlipid enteroviruses but is fully active against the lipid viruses. Studies also have demonstrated the ability of ethyl and isopropyl alcohol to inactivate the hepatitis B virus(HBV) and the herpes virus, and ethyl alcohol to inactivate human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), rotavirus, echovirus, and astrovirus”. www.cdc.gov

Juicy Lab Sanitizer Spray is made of 83% Ethanol (cane sugar based) which is completely safe for human use.

USA Import Products & Distribution commits to our loyal customers that we have all the FDA requirements and Juicy Lab can be used in a safely manner.

As always thank you very much for your continuous support and please don’t hesitate to send us a message if you have any questions or concerns.

The story of a small Texan company that rose up during COVID-19 Pandemic.

We are proud to say that teamwork makes things happen. When you have a common goal in mind, and you put the right team and companies together, success is achieved!

USA Import is an importing company that has fulfilled the needs of America for more than eleven years with high quality items that satisfy both Hispanic and Anglo markets. As part of our business we have several partnerships that help us import some of the most recognizable brands from Mexico to the United Sates.

Our partnership with our bottling ally, Alimentos Delicias del Norte (ADN) is key to our business and to our success. They have manufactured our Mr. Mix Michelada Mixer for many years. It was exactly three weeks ago when we realized that COVID-19 was changing the path of many businesses in the US. We were sure Mr. Mix Michelada was not going to be at the top of any buyer's list at this particular moment. That’s when we decided to call Alejandro, owner of ADN, and share our idea of using his bottling plant to bottle hand sanitizer. We had a hunch that this particular item was going to grow in volume extremely fast. Alejandro shared with us that he thought he was going to be forced to close his plant temporarily because of the pandemic,so our idea of changing the bottled product gave him hope to move forward and keep his business and employees working.

At this point we were sure that we could use Alejandro's machinery and start buying wholesale hand sanitizer from different manufactures in Mexico to bottle it in all of the different sizes. We were also sure that we needed to move quickly!

The next step was to reach out to our customs agents, both Mexican and American, to make sure that we had all of the necessary permits to import hand sanitizer into the US. To our surprise, when we talked to our really good friend and US Customs Broker, Martha Davila, she made us aware that hand sanitizer is one of the most difficult things to import into the US. Because of this, federal agencies had to give a specific permit to USA Import in order to legally sell an Over the Counter (OTC) item. Martha, along with her team at TCS Brokerage, managed to get that permit to us in less than two weeks.

In the meantime we had made a partnership with Juicy Lab from Monterrey, Mexico, a brand new company that committed to the challenge of manufacturing hand sanitizer as a spray. They had everything in place to start selling, but were not sure how to make this item available to the American market. USA Import and TSC Brokerage, together guided these young entrepreneurs on how to make their label comply with all of the federal requirements.

The USA Import sales team was extremely excited about having both types of hand sanitizers (bottled and spray) ready to sell. They had been working really close with grocery store clients and were aware of the increased demand and necessity to get these items onto the shelves and available to the public.

Unfortunately, our logistics team had another big challenge ahead of them, transportation. With COVID-19,transportation had been and continues to be limited, but once again our team worked tirelessly in order to have our first truck of new hand sanitizer in the US on April 4th 2020.

As of today, we have 2 available SKU’s. The first being a 1 gallon size bottle for the business market and the second being the Juicy Lab 4 oz. sanitizer spray to be sold for retail in grocery stores.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make this idea a reality in record time, 21 days to be precise. This was only possible with the combined teamwork of: Alimentos Delicias del Norte, Juicy Lab, TCS Brokerage, and Pedraza Forwarding.

USA Import's mission will continue to be connecting great companies and developing new products in order to fulfill the needs of our customers and their communities.
