Local homestead located in the heart of Devine TX. We focus on small regenerative veg/flower farming In 2020 we learned A LOT! So we bought a farm!

One of the things our family learned was we cannot depend on others to provide us with basic needs. We were quarantined for months and learned how beneficial it was to be around your loved ones and we learned spending quality time with your family is always better outside without technology distracting you. Well actually we bought a portion of my Dad's farm. And we are merging with my Dad and lear

ning all we can from him and soaking up as much knowledge as we can to make this farm something special for all of our family and friends! We have a long journey ahead of us and lots of hard work! HUMMINGBIRD HELP: Our Ruby-throated hummingbirds are heading back south on their annual fall migration. Please consider keeping the hummingbird feeders out and stocked with hummingbird nectar now through at least late October. One part white sugar and four parts water works! The most common and heaviest concentration of the Ruby-throated humming bird is zipping southward with the arrival of yet another cold front across the eastern United States.

The tiny hummingbird is incredible and can flap their wings up to 80 times per second with a heartbeat of over 1,260 per minute! That burns a lot of energy and requires calories and frequent feedings during peak migration into September. Hummingbirds can feed every 10-15 minutes and can consume up to 3 times their body weight in daily food as they migrate southward during the day.

If you've seen them hungry and at your feeders in great numbers recently, this is why! Keep them fed and spread the word. Safe travels as this migrations takes the next several weeks, see you again in the Spring!

What’s the difference between these two tomatoes? 🍅🤔
One is smooth, the other has a little cracking at the top — but both are fresh, flavorful, and straight from the garden!

🌧️ Why does cracking happen?
When we get extra rain, tomatoes absorb water faster than their skin can stretch. That sudden growth can cause the top of the tomato to split or crack, especially where the skin is thinner. It’s totally natural — and it happens a lot with heirloom tomatoes, which we proudly grow here at Figure It Out Farm.

🌱 Heirloom vs. Hybrid (F1):
• F1 hybrids are bred for things like crack resistance and uniformity — great for grocery store shelves.
• Heirlooms, on the other hand, are grown for flavor, diversity, and tradition, not cosmetic perfection.
We grow mostly heirloom varieties because we believe in keeping the flavor strong and the growing honest — even if that means a few cracks here and there.

💡 The bottom line:
A little cracking just means it got a bit too much water all at once — but inside, it’s still juicy, sweet, and packed with homegrown goodness.
