Veryyyyy excited for this gal! Normally speckles like this show on the “mint chocolate chip” eggs but her base is so much darker than mint. What should we call her?!

The evolution of a new BCM layer!
When this gal popped her first egg out, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t bummed. I know they get darker as their “ink cartridge” gets primed and I’m impressed with her progress. I think she still has some darkening to do with the color of those speckles 🔥

This year at 4B Poultry Palace, we’ll be rolling out “The Queen’s Greens”. Olive Eggers are my biggest passion next to my Silverudds and are easily the funnest breeding coop. The possibilities are endless! 🤩

We went to early service at church and now it’s coop clean out and rooster thin out time. We have several growouts that have hit maturity and found their voices. I’ll pick my breeders and the rest will move along to new families. Some will be breeders, some will feed families but all will be a blessing in some way 💕

I’m pretty impressed that these gals have kept up production through the summer AND they have maintained most of their color! All these eggs were laid in the past 3 days🤯

One stack is being given to a couple of friends to hatch, one stack is going to the neighbors as eating eggs and all the others will be eaten by us or be fed back to the hens!
