Season 1: The Farm. I loved every minute. It was exactly what my soul needed. Slowly, as I built the farm family, it filled me with joy. I started to share my passions and that’s why you are reading this today. The entire thing was magic when we each needed it the most. We grew as a community under an umbrella of joy and tears. A small piece, of each of us, stayed in the hearts of those animals as I put the farm in my rear view mirror. That isn’t the end of this beautiful story though. Like any good book, it was a huge pivot. That brings us to Season 2: Rebuilding

Do you miss photos? I miss simple. I started with cute captures of my animals personalities. It’s time to stop always trying to capture the best video to make a reel. I miss hanging out with the farm family for no other reason than I want to share their love and my joy…and adorable photos…

So glad Cricket came up with this idea…These cookies are AMAZING!

S’mores Cookies:
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
3/4 cup cookie butter
1/3 cup sugar (plus extra for rolling)
1/3 brown sugar
1 egg
2 Tbsp half & half
1 tsp vanilla
20 large marshmallows cut in half
40 chocolate stars

Mix first 3 dry ingredients. Beat together remaining ingredients other than marshmallows & chocolate. Refrigerate dough one hour to become firm. Preheat oven to 375. Roll dough into one inch balls and then roll in sugar. Place on line cookie sheet and bake for 12 minutes. As soon as you remove place one half of a marshmallow on top of each cookie. Turn oven to broil. Place sheet back into oven until the marshmallow is toasted. Don’t walk away - this goes fast. Remove from oven and immediately too with Fleet Farm Chocolate stars. Allow to cook and serve.

“Did you hear that I have new deputies?” ~ Edgar

Drop a comment as a warm welcome to our new guard dogs ~ Thelma & Louise

This smile does not lie, Edgar is over the moon to have help to keep the bad guys away. These gals are 6
Month old puppies, not sisters, that will be the sheep’s guardians.

Why two? In the larger pastures it’s easier to work as a team. Coyotes come in packs…so should the protectors.

What breed? They are both mixed LGD (livestock guardian dogs). Thelma is 50% Boz Shepherd (Uber big) and Louise has a lot of Anatolian Shepherd in her like Edgar. I’m waiting on the paperwork- once received I can be more specific. What I can tell you is that these girls are AMAZING! Last night was their first night left in the pasture with Edgar and they both scored A+! 🙌🏻

Cricket tried to be a little better today….

My tastebuds are saying that this is the BEST cookie yet!!! However I am a huge short bread fan. Not to sweet, light, crumbly, oh…and butter. 🥰

Here is the recipe!

Caramel cashew shortbread cookies:

1lb softened butter - extra for brushing
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup crushed caramels
1 1/2 cup cashews

Cream butter sugar and vanilla in a mix master. Add all powder ingredients. And the goodies.

Roll into 2 Tbsp balls. Score with a knife. Brush with melted butter. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 29 minutes.

If you make them - let me know! So so good…

“What you looking at?” ~ Teagan

If you watched stories you know we lost sweet Johnathan. He definitely had a story that was deserved to be shared. He just passed - there isn’t always a reason.

That said - I want every “B” character here on the farm to be celebrated. I used to preform plays - and my B characters were the ones that made the stories the richest, I loved playing them most.

Do you think you are an A character or B? All are needed to weave a story so no wrong answers.

Are you a baker or a cook…? 🤔

Cricket’s diva sass was strong so we decided to have a guest star today! Herman was very eager to learn….

These Fleet Farm Country Mix Up Cookies are the BEST!!!

05/28/2021

Are you a baker or a cook?

Baking up some Country Mix Up Cookies!!!

Apparently Cricket was too diva for all of us today - so Herman stepped up and really wanted to learn!

Animal Fact: Some pigs and goats have the same taste in jewelry! Wattles!

Not all breeds though. It can be a characteristic of Pygmy goats as well as Kune Kune pigs. My goats are mainly Pygora, a cross between Pygmy and Angora. Do you know any other breeds that sport wattles?

Nothing is as rewarding as earning trust. From animal or human.

Sake was a feral cat that I took in on New Years Day. We have had a few rare sightings of him here are there, but today was a big deal. As he watched me with the other kitties - he came closer and closer. Not within reach just yet….but I’m still sitting here with him.

Maybe in time he will be transformed like Red. Until then….I appreciate the time he gives me.

Last lamb bottle of 2021…..

What an honor it has been to care for these littles. Thank you all for sharing in the journey with me.

It’s been quite the year already! Lucy being rejected by her Mom. Bunny broke her little leg. And Bubbles passing no matter how hard we tried.

Farming is a rollercoaster of ups and downs. This morning one of my new chicks out in the barn yard broke it’s leg and had to be put down. At the same time I have 18 more little chicks growing and fluffing up inside.

Right now we just cut a random string off of Roo Roo’s feet that eventually would have cut off his circulation. It felt great for him and us to take care of of him string him free.

This journey has been so full of blessings and hardships….I wouldn’t change a thing. So glad you are here following along.

Meet my dream boat goat, Cameron.

I had no idea how much this farm would touch my heart. How the animals have shown me their true personalities. What a beautiful global community that comes together over the love of animals.

I love the fun videos and silly stories. However it is the simple moments like this that fills my heart.

Tell me a memorable memory that you love from the farm.

It’s fun to show you the simple moments I share with the animals on the farm. Times like these is when their personalities shine. I can’t tell you how many times Cricket knocked over my camera…and jumped on my back…hoof prints on my brand new jacket…🙄

Is there specific that you would like me to capture? Yes of course Cricket coming and going from the chicken coop….🤦🏻‍♀️ What else?

04/30/2021

So did Cricket entice you to bake these?

Did you enjoy the barn clean out in stories today? I have more to post....but I don’t like to be on my phone when everyone is working so hard.

These moments make all the hard work worth it.

The love I share with these animals is so special. I have a relationship with every single one of them. Bottle babies as a whole are also hard work, but they will never forget it. I am Mom forever.

I’m going to continue to try to capture more moments like this so you can see and understand why or how I know them all. The number one question I get asked is “How can you possibly know all of their names?” The answer is simply that they are my pets, not farm animals.

Thanks for showing up for our farm family. My heart is touched by how much you all love them too.

One Cricket For Sale: Shape shifting, addicted to love, GOAT.

You may think she is a great deal from afar....but up close.... Buyer beware....

You see she is addicted to love. She just shows it in unusual ways. Jamming her horns into your shin is a favorite past time. Or there’s this....jumping on you if you are distracted. She simply wants you to know how much she loves you and wants to be as close as possible. You get that, right?

Then there is her “spice”....she is a shape shifter. I know, I know, that sounds crazy, but this goat at a year old still manages to fit through the chicken coop door. She casually munches on the chicken feed, but she is a clever girl with secondary plans. World domination smarts type gal has figured out the chicken coop is the secret passage to barnyard heaven - aka the supply area....Zero promises on what she will shape shift into on your farm - guaranteed to get everywhere she shouldn’t.

Price.....? Naw - priceless.....💕

If you could - would you take her home? (BTW she isn’t going anywhere rest assured)

🐐

Introducing....Herman! Say hello down below!

He has LOTS to say....he certainly seems like he will fit right in around here. We brought him to the farm in hopes he and Cricket can become buddies. I didn’t give him a name that would go with Cricket’s because he is his own little character. We hope they will become close friends but you never can be sure.

He is settling in great. Hanging out with the lambs so he can used to all the new noises and smells. It will be a slow transition for him out to the farm. Great things take time. 💕

CHAMPION!!! Of the Barnyard Dust Up! Edgar the sheriff.

I started this entire March Madness bracket because I thought it was cute and fun. Ultimately, it showed me how much you all love every single family member here. It was so touching. I sincerely thank you all.

So many people said they simply could not choose. It’s a beautiful thing that we never have to. To know that you all love these critters as much as I do was the best gift you could have ever given me.

If you could walk the pastures - how many animal selfies would you take? With who? I personally grab as many as I can....

Oh! Stories today is an actual “story” in a way. Hope you enjoyed that....I hope to do more of it...

Back stories may make a difference...

Today’s vote is up and tough for the barnyard dust up bracket. Tomorrow is going to hurt!

So I thought I would give you a little background. Everyone started following at different times so may not know everyone’s back story.

Edgar the last lonely puppy in a litter that I was gifted and came from Oregon State, who now is the sheriff and protects the farm. Cricket the bottle fed baby brought here to keep a blind lamb company, full of the dickens she still squeezes into the chicken coop. Puddin the round tummy toddler that is the fluffiest white cow you will ever see. Last but not least - Ernest. As a kitten he rode on the pigs and became mayor of the farm.

Is your bracket busted? Who are you voting for tomorrow? This is a time you want to start sharing - asking friends and family to vote for your favorite. 🙌🏻

We haven’t chatted much about how itty bitty these goats stayed! They were born here two years ago this Spring.

“I am so happy I came to live on your farm!” ~ Licorice

I don’t know if I even had an Instagram account when I filmed this! 🙈

This is baby Licorice. He was going to be the one of two bucks on my farm to make lots of babies! I spent the night here and my eyes were opened to what it was like in all aspects of dealing with intact males. Best thing I could have EVER done was gain knowledge from a farmer already doing what I thought I wanted.

Many people say I inspire them to have a farm one day. That is SO amazing!! Please, make a plan and then seek out a farm that does just that and ask to do the worst jobs included with that plan. You will love it or change paths. Best thing to do before you invite your farm babies home. This visit was pivotal, best decision ever and I thank God for Deb’s guidance again and again.
