It’s true. Composting can be messy. Confusing. And leave you wondering if all the effort really matters.

But cleaner compost streams start long before waste reaches the bin. From making informed packaging choices to providing clear signage and employee training, there are practical steps businesses can take to reduce contamination and help more compostable materials become compost.

Want to learn how to build a cleaner compost stream? We’re breaking it down in our latest Better Earth Insights: https://ow.ly/kgyV50ZWvs6

This disposal dilemma has a happy ending! But that’s not always the case. When there’s no compost bin in sight, here are a few things to try:

🔎 Keep looking—and ask an employee if there’s a compost bin elsewhere.
🗑️ If composting truly isn’t available, the landfill is the better choice. Most compostable packaging isn’t recyclable, so it’s better not to guess.
📣 If you regularly visit a venue without composting, let them know you’d love to see compost bins added and clearly marked.

And remember, you can always find a compost drop-off site near you at becompostable.com/dropoff

Yesterday was full of great conversations and connections at Super South during Climate Week NYC!

Our VP of Sustainability, Savannah Seydel, joined conversations on advancing progress across the South and moderated a discussion with fellow leaders from CHEP, Georgia Tech, Interface, and Compass Group about turning ambitious goals into practical strategies, organizational change, and measurable impact.

Compostable foodservice packaging from Better Earth also helped set the table for networking and connection 🌱

Thanks to the Super South team for bringing everyone together!

Every August, Atlanta local Kavin hosts a South Indian Crab Roast in his neighborhood, centered around celebrating culture, community, and sustainability. This year, Better Earth was proud to support the gathering by donating our BPI-certified molded fiber oval plates, lined with collected banana leaves, and used to serve 125 guests.

From food scraps to plates and cutlery, everything was composted with the help of our friends at CompostNow, reused, or recycled—making this a completely zero-waste event. Not a single bag of landfill trash was created!

We love seeing what’s possible when local community members come together to create more sustainable celebrations, and our mouths are already watering thinking about hearing Kavin say “Let’s eat!” next year.
