San Francisco’s biggest cocktail week is back 🍸

Top bars from Bangkok, Singapore, Seoul, Malaysia, and Hawaii are taking over the city for AAPI Month, alongside some of SF’s best bars and restaurants.

This year’s lineup includes an opening party with Bar Us, Penrose, and food from local star The Happy Crane. Plus a pandan party, sunset luau, and my favorite event: a night market with 25+ vendors at Splash Sports Bar.

If you’re hitting up multiple events, get the 2-event or all-access pass. Use code AAPI15 for 15% off.

See you there!

Maria Isabel SF: A New Contemporary Mexican Restaurant Worth Prioritizing

Coming back to San Francisco after some travel, I found myself jumping straight into my usual juggling of dinners and social plans, slotted between work and more work. With startup demands, I've been more intentional lately with my time, including scaling back on eating out. Not easy, given how spoiled we are here with a constant stream of new openings!...

This was either going to be wholesome or a crime scene. When you’re done with dating apps but still want to meet actual humans, this was like adult summer camp, minus the summer part.

They match total strangers using a very detailed survey and drop you in group events. I picked a potluck and brought the most polarizing dish… green fluff salad. Perfect way to find out who’s adventurous and who’s judging me silently. I did bring pineapple buns as backup.

We did improv games while pretending we had circulation. Then we inhaled food, trauma-bonded over the cold, and liked each other enough to go to a bar after. All that socializing made us hungry for a second lunch, so my new friends and I ended the day with pho.

Honestly, this was way more fun than I expected. And I didn’t have to deal with endless swiping or creepy advances. A holiday miracle. Thanks to 222. [ad]

From London to SF: Dingles Public House Nails a Proper British Sunday Roast

I’m writing this on a flight to London. This year keeps throwing curveballs at me, and now I’m heading back to the UK months after my first visit. My friend wanted to celebrate her birthday in London, so I figured why not. Perks of being single, no kids, and fully remote. Round two here we go! Shortly after my first London Sunday roast experience (a 2.5 hour, Guinness-fueled wait at the popular Devonshire), a British pub opened in my SF neighborhood....

The Happy Crane – Best Peking Duck in San Francisco?

Somehow once October hits, the rest of the year sprints ahead like me rushing to my gate even when I swear I left with a buffer. I love/hate the chaos of holidays, work pushes, and food coma brain fog. Before my restaurant recaps vanish into the void, here’s a newish San Francisco spot I’ve visited a couple times that actually lives up to the hype....
