The Rose Parade shows off the horticultural delights of California in the winter, and this year Our Beloved San Francisco is making a float - complete with the beloved landmarks and flora of The City! It was a delight to get to chat with the floral designer for the float and hear about the intensive process to produce something so grand, beautiful and laborious, yet ephemeral. Check out SF’s float in the Rose Parade on Jan 1st!

Gotta stay active in these days of little light, as moving keeps the mind and body feeling alright. Run up the stairs or dance in your room, even a bit of movement will fight back the gloom. For me running is the best thing to do, as I can go out and see the doves, flowers, and bamboo. So move when you can and move when you must because at the end of the day we will all turn to dust. 🤗

Acorus sp. (aka Sweet Flag) is the oldest living lineage of monocots! They smell wonderful when the leaves are crushed, they thrive as a water marginal, and can even be grown indoors! Have you seen this plant?
