New year, same Sandy 😌 After 30 years of farming and leading a company, you would think Sandy would be looking forward to an easy retirement, but it's quite the opposite! Sandy thrives off of keeping herself busy, and a key part of that is looking after all of our flowers, basil, and chives in our Northern California Greenhouse. Sandy's continued dedication to the craft always reminds us that farming is more than a business. It's a way of life and a source of joy. May we all find the things that keep us meaningfully and manageably busy, just like Sandy!

“The atmosphere, the earth, the water, and the water cycle – those things are good gifts. The ecosystems, the ecosphere, those are good gifts. We have to regard them as gifts because we couldn’t make them. We have to regard them as good gifts because we couldn’t live without them.” – Wendell Berry

From our fields to your home, Happy Holiday season. May you feel the warmth and comfort of good food grown with love and dedication.

Baja, California in the winter = perfect weather for growing peppers, tomatoes, and basil. While the winter chill makes it impossible to grow warm-weather crops in the United States, the “Baja chill” cools down the peninsula just enough for plants to thrive. At Jacobs Farm del Cabo, we honor the most ethical form of trade, taking something that is plentiful in one area and redistributing it in another area that is lacking. It creates consistent profit for our southern farmers and provides you with the vegetables that you love all year long.

Thanksgiving 2022 came and went, but the season for holiday herbs have just begun.

If you’re looking for the perfect, post-work pick me up, look no further than sage and whiskey. The smokey, distinct taste of whiskey is brightened by the coastal scent of the sage, proving that opposites attract!

If you’re looking for a sweet treat, a cranberry spritz is deepened by the savory scent of rosemary. Add a slice of lemon and a little ginger for an extra punch!

Check out to see & to see the original versions of these delicious drinks.

This is THE time of year for herbs and we will NOT stop talking about it 👩🏽‍🌾🦃🌱

Every year we create two herb combinations that perfectly match your seasonal taste buds. The first is our Poultry Mix, composed of rosemary, thyme, sage. This trio creates the classic Thanksgiving turkey taste, but it can also enhance any seasonal chicken or potato dish!

The second herb combination is our Holiday Mix which also contains rosemary, thyme, and sage with the seasonal addition of savory. While you may not know savory when you see it, the smell and flavor will take you back to all of your favorite holiday meals. This pack makes a splendid addition to your Christmas ham, seasonal cocktails, and comforting soups and stews.

Want to win BOTH of these gorgeous herb mixes? Check out our last post and enter our Thanksgiving giveaway 🦃

..

Taking a little moment to appreciate our founders – two people who met each other through pursuit of a better food system.

After Sandra graduated from University of Kansas she decided to head north, and started working on a farm owned by the organic pioneer Elliot Coleman.

Larry, a California boy through and through, graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in soil studies, and began to work on the farm of Scott and Helen Nearing, the famous simple-living, organic, and vegetarian lifestyle activists.

By fate or luck, these two farms were right next to each other on the coast of Maine, and the rest is history! All these years later, they’re still together and they’re still farming, they just prefer California’s climate to Maine’s!
