Join us for a hands-on workshop celebrating citrus season! Learn how to transform leftover lemon and orange peels into an effective, all-natural household cleaner. Each participant will create and take home two jars of citrus cleaner base. Light refreshments will be served during the workshop.

Today we had Matthew Geldin, head farmer and co-owner of Farmscape, teaching RMV residents all about how to make their own Sauerkraut! Participants tried samples, chose their own seasonings and took home their very own handmade jar!

Have you ever heard about these natural sponges called loofahs? We grew them at the farms last season and they were a hit!

🥒 Loofahs are from the same family as cucumbers (the Cucurbitaceae family). They grow in vines, have a high water content, and contain seeds inside.

👐 To process a loofah, we score the fruit and pull away the peel from the fibrous interior. We then start to squeeze all the gooey content, to keep only the sponge-like material. We wash it thoroughly, and leave it to dry completely before the first use.

🛀 Loofahs can be used in the shower or sink. They should be fully rinsed and left to dry to increase their lifespan.

🌎 They're a great alternative to sponges that release microplastics, and are completely biodegradable.
