🥖 BEHIND THE BREAD: Why Every Loaf Looks Different

Have you ever noticed that no two Breadsmith loaves look exactly alike? That’s not a flaw- it’s part of what makes real, handcrafted sourdough so special. 💛

Every loaf is mixed, slow-fermented, shaped, and scored by hand. And sourdough is alive! Small differences in fermentation, dough temperature, shaping tension, scoring, inclusions, and even where a loaf sits in the oven can give each one its own personality.

Some rise a little taller. Some get a bigger ear. Some brown more deeply or come out a little rounder than their neighbors.

We could chase factory-perfect uniformity- but that isn’t the kind of bread we make.

Our loaves are made by real hands, in small batches, for real families in our community. So while they may not all look identical, they’re all made with the same wholesome ingredients, slow fermentation, and a whole lot of care. 🥖💛

And in the end, each one gets wrapped up and sent on its way- ready to become someone’s loaf, at someone’s table. 🥰

Siblings, not twins. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Hello, September. 🍂🍞

There’s something special about this little in-between season… when the garden is still giving us tomatoes and basil, but pumpkin-everything is beginning to call our names. 🎃🌿🍅

We’re ready for cooler mornings, warm kitchens, slow-fermented sourdough, and all the cozy flavors that come with the season ahead.

Here’s to gathering around good food, sharing it with people we love, and welcoming fall one delicious loaf at a time. 🧡
