Finally finished getting all 19 of my new irises planted. With Fred’s help, of course!

Six inches of gentle rain in the last five days has finally broke our 90-day drought. Grateful for every drop! I’m so ready to get my 19 new irises planted, along with a handful of daylilies and hardy hibiscus in the ground! 🌺 ❤️

Fall cleanup has begun! It’s still too hot to plant any new irises or improve soil and replant beds, but I feel accomplished by getting quite a few beds cleaned up and watered today!

Come on Fall! 🍁 Summer has WAY overstayed its welcome this year☀️. I have SO many iris beds that need to be improved and replanted, but we are already into the second week of September with temps still at 100 every day 🥵 (and no rain). At least I have good company while I water irises! 🐈‍⬛ 🐈

Is anyone else having issues with the heat this year like us? It is ALWAYS hot in Texas in August (and now into September) and I water irises once a week the best I can, but the heat is relentless day after day this year. I’ve lost several irises, and it’s rare for me to completely lose an iris (though I’ve lost tons of daylilies the last 3-4 years). I put what was left of Champion Bloodlines in a pot in the shade on the porch and it’s *trying* to grow. 🙏

The final iris orders for the year have been dug and will be going out in the mail on Monday, hurray! 🎉 I have three additional boxes of 5-6 irises to offer, and will post each one separately with all the information. Photo shown here of Smokey “helping” me dig irises this weekend 🐈‍⬛

Morning shade! This is my saving grace during dig and ship season! It gets really hot here in Texas, and I get as many rhizomes dug in the shade as I can, or I wouldn’t physically be able to get it all done. 🥵🥴
