From CNA to Medical Assistant: Meet Lisa Clarke Williams 💙

As a dedicated CNA and mother, Lisa Clarke Williams wanted more for herself and her family. She enrolled in CTC's Integrated Education and Training (IET) program and completed the Medical Assisting program.The result? Lisa did her externship at Dr. George Koppuzha's office and was hired to work at Dr. Bheena Koppuzha's practice in Englewood before she even finished the program. Dr. Bheena says the clinical experience Lisa gained gave her "greater medical understanding and problem-solving skills you can't learn in an online or classroom environment."

You don't need four years of lectures to build a meaningful career. You need skills, mentorship, and practical experience. At CTC, health science students learn clinical skills in state-of-the-art labs with industry-quality equipment. Then their instructors place them in the workplace for real-world experience.

This spring, Marcus Valenti, a 12th grader in our Medical Assisting program, did his externship at Sunshine State Dermatology and Skin Cancer Center - North Port. They were so impressed, they offered him a full-time position. At just 17 years old, Marcus now works with Dr. Greenberg and his staff serving patients at the practice's Venice and North Port offices.
