14 out of 15 chicks made it safely to Girly Bird Farms through the mail on Dec 29th.
Light Brahmas
Black Copper Marans
And Prarie Bluebells (easter eggers)

Today was move out day! 10 chicks are in the coop within a coop. 3 light Brahmas, 2 copper marans, and 5 Prarie Bluebells.

I'm a tad early with the move out this time because I am desperate to get them out of the living room. 🤪

4 of the 5 chickies are laying 😁 they are now one step closer to joining The Ladies.

I know the silver chick (still no name for her yet) is laying the blue eggs 💙

And so it begins. 🥵🥵🥵

First day of summer here is marked by the first hen to get heat sickness.
Poor Katherine here has a touch of heat stroke.

Chickens cool themselves through their feet. So she gets the spa treatment while I set up the makeshift hospital comprised of upturned laundry baskets, an ice block, and electrolyte water.

Today's temp topped out at 113° 🔥

Girly Bird Farms played host to a family of Gamble's quail. All 10 eggs hatched this afternoon!

Unfortunately it's just a single dad, so probably no returning next season for another hatch.
