Texas Youth Expo

Our seemingly short friendship with the Petrash family has been one that has solidified our “why we do this.” The girls enjoyed an impressive majors run & look to be turning up the heat going into the summer run. THANK YOU for your hard work with these females & we look forward to what lies ahead for you!

Multiple times we’ve preached the importance of the cow side of the pedigree & these four females are loaded with cows who perform on either side of their pedigrees.

If you’ve talked cattle with me, you know how much this cow means to me & the rest of the crew at Higher Up. We thought so much of her first calf by Hard Body that we retained her & IVF’d Fendi the same way.

We’ve been MIA for a while, but we’re back with AWARD-WINNING news!

This summer, we had the distinct pleasure of working with the McKee family from Pitkin, Louisiana on showmanship. Brylee returned to Texas in pursuit of a showmanship win at Beefmaster Junior Nationals & made the top 10 in a TOUGH group of Junior Showmanship!

While many would be happy with that, she was determined to come out on top. Before the Arctic storm rolled through, Brylee took home her FIRST SHOWMANSHIP Win & Buckle at the Deweyville Prospect Show!

Congrats to you Brylee! We’re glad you’ve allowed us to be the smallest part of your successful journey that is no where close to over!

If hard times make you stronger, then this girl is going to be as tough as nails in the future. To be frank, she’s had it rough between a mother who decided she liked other calves milking her down better & kicking her stitches out in the middle of the hurricane leading to a nice infection that got her down. Good news is, she’s on the mend and ready for a new home.

Guaranteed kid friendly, big time haired, with her best days ahead of her.

If you look in our herd, it’s not hard to find pedigrees stacked with maternal lines that have produced time after time.

Long before now, we placed an emphasis on using what worked, while trying to obtain fresh genetics in the process. When the opportunity arose to purchase a direct daughter of LMC Pioneer Woman, we didn’t hesitate. With fresh genetics, an incredible pedigree, and a phenotype that will stop you in your tracks, we went back for seconds.

This weekend, at American Junior Simbrah Roundup, Cameron Hein led LMC Fendi 5F/61 to a Division Title. As we near the end of her show career, we can’t help but be jazzed up about this April Hardbody on her side.

Big things often come in small packages and Avery Oliver led LMC Demi into a 3rd place finish. Be on the lookout when she calves early this fall!

Neither of these girls ever won the “big show” in Texas, but we are ECSTATIC for them to make a major impact on our herd. Look for opportunities to invest in these maternal powerhouses in the coming months!

We would also like to send a big congrats out to Avery Oliver on an incredible rookie start at American Junior Simbrah Roundup with a 2nd place Skillathon & 4th place Cattleman’s Quiz!
