deserves this shoutout for their delicious rice and curry and for keeping everything authentic. They’re 100% vegan, but you don’t miss meat at all because their meat substitute dishes are fantastic. I loved their jaggery “beef”. One of the best soy-based dishes I’ve ever tasted.

I also love that they offer such a long list of curries to choose from. We ordered rolls and vegetable roti as well, which I devoured as soon as I got them. If you know me, you know I lose my mind when I see short eats.

I was feeling a little under the weather, so Pulasthi picked up our order and said everyone at the restaurant was incredibly nice.
I’m also incredibly grateful for what they’re doing to bring Sri Lankan food to a wider audience while staying true to its roots.

If you’re visiting Portland, definitely give this place a try. This isn’t sponsored in any way, they have no idea I’m posting this. I just really enjoyed the food and wanted to share. ❤️

If I had to give up every other dish, I think I could. But not coconut sambol and rice.

It’s one of those foods that feels like home no matter where you are. Growing up in Sri Lanka, it was simply part of everyday life. A fresh batch on the table meant breakfast was ready. It found its way onto our lunch plates, and if there happened to be any leftovers, they’d be transformed into tempered coconut sambol for dinner.

The beauty of coconut sambol is in its simplicity. Just a handful of ingredients, yet it has a way of making even the simplest meal feel complete.

I truly believe most Sri Lankans could eat coconut sambol for all three meals of the day and still not get tired of it. That’s how deeply it’s woven into our food culture and our memories.

If you want to try one Sri Lankan dish, let it be Coconut Sambol. 🇱🇰🥥

This meal could fix my mood instantly!

🔸tempered Cassava curry - one of favorite curries ever
🔸Dried anchovies stir-fried. Weather was perfect today to cook it outside
🔸Gotukola Sambola (salad with fresh coconut)
🔸Keeri Samba rice cause nothing else hits the same 🇱🇰

Btw that’s Portuguese sausage I bought from Hawaii and my current favorite because they’re sooo good!!!

It’s a little too early for tropical fruits in Maui right now, but I’m still so grateful for what we were able to find. It reminded me so much of my little island Sri Lanka. Just sharing for all the fruit lovers ❤️❤️

We also found mangosteen at a swap meet, but I got too excited, forgot to record, and devoured it in seconds 😂 Also loved seeing different banana varieties apart from the usual Cavendish bananas.
