It’s a little too early for tropical fruits in Maui right now, but I’m still so grateful for what we were able to find. It reminded me so much of my little island Sri Lanka. Just sharing for all the fruit lovers ❤️❤️

We also found mangosteen at a swap meet, but I got too excited, forgot to record, and devoured it in seconds 😂 Also loved seeing different banana varieties apart from the usual Cavendish bananas.

Made this baked chicken and potatoes for dinner tonight because it’s so easy to make, quick to prep, and everything cooks in one pan 😄 Served it with a store bought salad pack on the side for an easy meal.

I would make coconut sambol too but I didn’t have any coconut at home 😬
For me, Dry fish or dried anchovies stir-fry is a must. Oh and Keeri Samba rice to make it feel even more homey. How about you? What do you make?

Heavily inspired by the delicious Kerala dish Meen Pollichathu. This is one of the best tasting fish dishes I’ve ever tried, especially considering I used an inexpensive Tilapia fillet and threw in whatever the spices I could grab. The tilapia fillet turned out super moist and the flavors were amaaaazing! I can imagine how good it must be to make it the authentic way with a whole Karimeen fish and marinating and pre-frying it before wrapping with a banana leaf.

Definitely give this dish a try if you can get your hands on some banana leaves. So worth it!!

One more New Year video before the month is over. It’s still joyful, just a little quieter and more nostalgic now. Just the two of us, far from our families, with Coco’s panting in the background filling the silence.

This rice and curry bowl was a full team effort.

Pulasthi handled the eggplant & sprats stir fry, papadum, and fried fish, all cooked outside because the weather was so good this weekend. I’m grateful, otherwise my whole house would smell like fried fish for two days (including my wardrobe and I don’t know how)😅

I made a light pumpkin curry, collard mallum, and rice.

Safe to say we ate way more than we should 😂
