Tonight we had the luxury of attending grand opening! Last year I saw their Kickstarter, loved the energy of the two owners and couldn't imagine the flavors they were talking about creating. It was one of the easiest decisions I've ever made. Fast forward to tonight we were invited to sample the BBQ for 2 at their Grand Opening.
When we walked in it immediately felt like we were a part of the family. Several folks checked in on us and got us to seats. When I tell you that this was the greatest BBQ I've had in Washington and better than a lot of the regional BBQ places I've visited, I'm not exaggerating.
The ribs were a 10/10, smokey, tender and full of flavor. Chef Jacob brought us out a little container of what I can only describe as their version of a chimichurri flavor bomb to put on the ribs and it was so good I ate it with a spoon. The pulled pork was rich in flavor, and juicy and the Golden BBQ has my mouth watering as I write this. My favorite of the sides was a tie between the mac and cheese and greens. The greens were the perfect balance to the richness of the protein with a nice vinegar and salty profile. Mac and Cheese was cooked perfectly and had a nice balance of creamy goodness and seasoning.
The corn bread was absolutely to die for, super moist, sweet and the perfect level of crumbly. For dessert we also got to try their Gulab Jamun Beignets. Fried dough, rose syrup and pistachio dust. I literally licked the container to mop up the rest of the rose syrup.
Platter Items Pulled Pork with Golden BBQ sauce, Ribs, smoked sausage, and a marinated chicken on a stick. Baked beans, Greens, Rice and Mac and Cheese were the sides.
The items featured on the platter are on their regular menu but presented slightly different, so I'm very excited to try their normal menu. G-unit and I Both agreed that when we have friends and family visiting this will be our #1 spot. It was a 10 out 10 experience. Staff were friendly, attentive and were on their A-Game for it being a Grand Opening it looked so effecient.
We ended our meal with hugs from both Chefs Jacob and Denzel and a photo. So excited to see the future of Grann.
