The only life I want🤎🌾

A little bit of land, a whole lot of animals, homemade bread, dirty boots, and my favorite people by my side.

Some days are chaotic, the animals are needy, the to-do list never ends, and there’s always something that needs fixing. But I wouldn’t trade a single bit of it.

Getting to raise our boy surrounded by the simple things, teaching him about caring for animals, the value of hard work, and how to appreciate the life God has given us… that’s the kind of rich I want to be🥹🤎

It’s not a fancy life, but it’s a full one.

And I pray I never take a second of it for granted🐓🐐🍞

🌾🐐 MEET THE ACREAGE MONDAY 🐐🌾

This week, we’re introducing you to one of the OGs… LOIS👑

Lois holds a pretty special place in my heart because she was my very first pet goat and the one who started this whole goat obsession😬

A few things you should know about our girl:

🐐 Mom status: Two-time mama!
🌾 Favorite hobby: Eating. Literally anything, anytime.
🤎 Love language: Her children. ONLY her children.
😂 Personality: Hates everyone who isn’t her offspring.
👑 Status: OG Acreage resident.

Lois may not be the friendliest girl on the farm, but she’s been here since the beginning, and I wouldn’t trade her for anything🤎

🐓 DID YOU KNOW?

Chickens are much more social and communicative than most people realize.

Researchers have identified dozens of different vocalizations chickens use to communicate with one another. They don’t simply “cluck” different sounds can communicate different things, including finding food, warning the flock of danger, calling their chicks, showing distress, or keeping in contact with other members of the flock.

Even more interesting, chickens can change their alarm calls depending on the type of threat they notice. For example, a predator flying overhead can trigger a different response than a threat approaching on the ground, allowing the rest of the flock to react appropriately.

Hens even begin communicating with their chicks before they hatch. During the final stages of incubation, chicks can hear their mother and begin making sounds from inside the egg, creating communication between mama and baby before they ever see each other🥹

The longer you keep chickens, the more you realize there’s a whole lot more going on in that coop than meets the eye!

My heart is just FULL after this weekend🥹🤎

First, a huge thank you to every single person who stopped by our tent, supported our little businesses, bought something, chatted with us or just came by to say hi. It truly means more than you know!

Linda— thank you for hanging out with us, jumping in to help and capturing all of these moments. I’m SO thankful to have a friend who shows up the way you do🤎📸

Ariel — I absolutely loved getting to do this one beside you. Two friends, two businesses and one shared table🫶🏼 Getting to cheer each other on, laugh all day and share a space doing something we both love made this event that much sweeter. With that being said y’all go give me girl a follow- The Good Ground • Rooted & Restored

THIS is one of my favorite parts of having The Giving Acreage, the people it continues to bring into my life and the memories we get to make along the way.
