Saturday Morning Coffee With the Goats
Shaine’s home today, which means his girls were living their best barn‑aisle lives.
Auntie and Baby posted up like royalty the moment he walked in — those little “feed us, human” eyes locked on him — and of course he made sure they got their sweet feed first.
Meanwhile, Simon and Spike tried every trick in the book: shoulder‑nudging, strategic hoof placement, full‑body “accidental” crowding. Didn’t matter. Shaine held the line.
Auntie and Baby got their breakfast.
The boys got told to wait their turn.
And I got to sip my coffee and watch the barn’s favorite soap opera unfold.

Saturday Morning Coffee with the Goats
This morning’s chores came with a little upgrade project in the goat playground. While the herd munched their sweet feed like a chorus of tiny crunch machines, Wanda and I got to work gluing down roofing shingles with Liquid Nails — a glamorous farm‑life attempt to help file down those busy little hooves.
Wanda, of course, took her role as Assistant Project Manager extremely seriously. In the video you’ll see her “helping” so enthusiastically that she practically sweeps me off my feet with love, cuddles, and a level of supervision that can only be described as… immersive.
Goats happy, playground improved, Wanda proud of herself, and me covered in equal parts Liquid Nails and affection.
Just another Saturday morning coffee with the goats — exactly the kind of chaos that makes this place home.

Did My First Solo Super Install… and I’m Feeling Pretty Damn Proud

Saturday Morning, Coffee with the Goats

I’m beginning to think the herd at Windy Bend Farm might be distant cousins of Merrill herself — yes, that fiercely demanding priestess from A Court of Silver Flames, descended from Rabath, Lord of the Western Wind.
Because let me tell you… these goats have been summoning some serious gusts around here.

Not to scatter manuscripts across a library, mind you — no, my herd uses their divine wind powers to blow down cottonwood branches, their absolute favorite treat in the entire universe. Sweet feed? Completely irrelevant. Cottonwood branches?

Sacred. Holy. Life‑altering.

And today, I delivered a trailer full of those precious branches into the spring pasture.

The goats saw it.
They knew.
And they were not pleased about the delay. . .

I parked the trailer.
I reinstalled the fence.
I reached for the gate…

And the second it cracked open, the whole herd erupted through like a Valkyrie charge.

In the video, you can even see little Declan — shortest goat, biggest ambition — launching himself into the trailer to secure the high ground and first dibs on the cottonwood buffet.

Honestly, if the Night Court ever needs a new wind‑wielder, I’ve got a whole lineup ready.

Happy Saturday from the breezy, branch‑strewn chaos of Windy Bend Farm.

Saturday Morning Coffee With the Goats
Big thanks to Mary Lee Keller, Willow, and Oliver for sharing their igloo doghouse with us. The goats needed a little sweet‑feed bribery to check it out… but now they’re treating it like their new clubhouse. Weekend adventures approved.
