We are preparing for Blondie’s retirement litter, due July 2nd!

The sire is Brick from Hunting Creek Kennels, the same gorgeous guy from our previous litter. Brick has completed all OFA testing as well as genetic health testing. Blondie has also completed genetic health testing.

Our pick-of-the-litter male is open. After this litter, it will be over a year before our next litter, making this a great opportunity for anyone considering adding a new family member.

Happy lockdown! We’ll be seeing these babes on the 13th.

Lots of white eggs in this hatch, which means lots of Polish. That won’t be the case for much longer, though. Our Polish are already past the peak of their laying season and are on the downhill slide in egg production. They usually stop laying completely for the season by mid- to late August.

Our next hatch date after this one is the 23rd, and we’ll have more Polish hatching then too!

This Golden Appenzeller lady is broody! 🥰 I’m pretty excited because, in the years I’ve had this breed, only one other one has ever gone broody for the Goldens. We’re out of chicks right now, but we have a hatch coming up on the 13th. If she’s still broody, she’s getting some! ❤️

These are the Blue Salmon Faverolles I purchased from Sand Hill Preservation Center. I do have another order of 10 more of this breed coming, but they haven’t shipped yet.

I’ve been around chickens all my life, but every breed is different. From the research I’ve done, I think all four of these are girls. One is almost pure white, which could be a color flaw, but it might make for an interesting project down the road.

If anyone is familiar with this breed, I’d love to hear your thoughts. They’re around 5 weeks old.
