Lavender doesn’t have to be the plant that defeats you. 🌿

Raised beds are my secret weapon — better drainage, easier soil control, and way less w**d drama. These are my beginner tips so you can stop being frustrated and start actually growing this thing.

Don’t give up on lavender. It’s worth it. Now that’s BombDiggity. 💜

Resilience is overcoming. Buoyancy is rising above. Today I needed both.

Some days the w**ds win. The rain comes. The to-do list laughs at you. And then something happens that stops everything.

Today, our sweet Rainy — our elderly mini donkey matron, the quiet, stoic heart of this herd — started choking. Food coming out her nose. Labored. Pitiful. And I felt so ill-equipped, questioning every decision all day long.

But here’s what buoyancy looks like in real life: you don’t give up. You keep pressing. You do the next right thing, and then the next one. That’s not a motivational poster. That’s just what a flourishing life actually looks like on a hard Tuesday.

And sometimes — if you’re as blessed as we are — the people around you step up in ways that take your breath away.

My equine vet friends showed up today. One came with her trailer. Another took Rainy in, watched over her, and made sure she got everything she needed. They problem-solved with me all day long until we figured it out. That is a gift I don’t take lightly.

Rainy is in good hands tonight. We’re praying hard that the choke clears and pneumonia hasn’t set in.

This is exactly why Sweet BombDiggity Farms Sanctuary and Rescue exists — a 501(c)3 — because a flourishing life isn’t just for people. It’s for the ones in our care too. And sometimes flourishing looks like knowing when to rely on the skills and hearts of others.

We keep pressing on. We pray for the best. We do all the things.

Now that’s BombDiggity. 🫏🤍

Please keep sweet Rainy in your prayers tonight.

That little yellow wildflower doing a lot of heavy lifting. 🌿☀️

St. John’s Wort has been studied for its antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties for centuries — and you can steep the dried flowers for 5–10 minutes for a simple, soothing tea.

Nature’s medicine cabinet is kind of wild, y’all. 💛

⚠️ Always check with your doctor — it can interact with some medications.

We’re at the beach this week — all the kids, the grandkids, sand everywhere — and it got us thinking about what it really means to design a flourishing life.

This week’s Country Living Connoisseur is live. It’s about rest, reset, and why starting from where you are is always enough.

Let me explain chicken math to you. It starts with six chicks. Just six. And then it becomes a whole personality with no exit ramp and I am fully at peace with that.

The one thing I can control is what they eat. Every single one of them gets Purina® Farm to Flock® -- Starter, Grower, Layer. The whole 1-2-3 system designed to take them from hatch to hen. Because if I'm doing chicken math this hard, they are eating like they deserve it.

No regrets. Not a single one.

That fuzzy little purple "w**d" taking over your yard right now? Don't pull it yet. 🌿

Purple dead nettle is one of the most underrated early-season plants — packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties, and it's completely edible. The bees love it. The pollinators are HERE for it. And honestly? So are we.

Here's how we brew it into a simple spring tea:

🫖 Purple Dead Nettle Tea
— Gather a small handful of fresh purple dead nettle tops (leaves and flowers)
— Rinse well
— Steep in hot (not boiling) water for 8–10 minutes
— Strain, add raw honey to taste
— That's it.

Earthy, mild, a little grassy. And knowing you made it from something growing wild on your land? That's a whole different kind of good.

Sometimes what looks like a w**d is exactly what the season is offering you. Pay attention. 💜

Stop Your Basil From Getting Leggy (Do This Instead)

🌱 Pinch above the leaf node. Do it before it flowers. Do it every week or two. That's it. Your basil will bush out, stay productive, and thank you all season long.

🌼 Zinnias have a secret and it’s called the wiggle test. Give that stem a little shake right below the bloom. If it wiggles, she’s not ready. If it stands firm, you’ve got yourself a cut flower at peak vase life.

💦 And before you drop them in water, strip those bottom leaves. They’ll cloud your water and cut your vase life short.
